Hey does anyone have any recommendations for the best Jets bar in Manhattan? I live in Texas now but I'm from NY but I didn't live there since I was a kid so don't be mad because I don't know. But anyone who can help me I'd appreciate it. Thanks
Try Blondies or the Mad Hatter. http://blondiessports.com/ http://www.madhattersaloonnyc.com/ Also, if you like the Village, try the Riviera http://rivieracafe.ypguides.net/page/o1ha/Menu_Highlights.html
Blondie's is nice! I used to hang at Blondie's Westside a lot. Definitely a good spot to watch the games. Try to get there early so you can get a table.
Just a little tidbit about Blondies West. Was there for a couple playoff games against the Pats. That place is a Pats bar in disguise. The day I was there, playoffs 2007? The entire staff was manned by bartenders in Patriots jerseys, yes transpants from beantown. They reviled in our defeat and it was a shitty and embarassing experience to say the least. So much so, that I will never be back, until it is confirmed that they got rid of the Boston connection in there. If anyone can confirm or deny the latest on this.. please chime in.
You didn't notice all the Pats frinedly bartenders and their Massholes friends all over the place? That place is the furthest from a Jet bar that I can think of. You want true green go Woodside Queens.
That's a recent trend then. It was never a Pats dominated bar when I used to hang out there. I watched the Jets playoff game against the Raiders ('01 season) and it was mostly Green. The following year I was there for the last game of the regular season when the Jets crushed the Packers and we won the division tiebreaker over Miami and NE. The place was going wild when we won cuz NE had just beat Miami a few hours earlier. If anything it was an NFL bar with fans from all different teams. Never dominated by one group. A lot more Boston fans came out of the woodwork in the city ever since they won their first WS in '04 so it doesn't surprise me to hear this.
From what I've been told it caters to fans for just about every NFL franchise. The pizza shop I used to at in Pittsburgh offered to ship their pizzas frozen via FedEx. We shipped a few to Blondies and got back a thank you card with a bunch of photos of guys in Steelers jerseys munching it down. I'm guessing there are a bunch of followers from every team in there at one point or another.
2 weeks ago I went to Blondies on the West Side and it was closed by the tax department. Not sure if its opened up again
