With the apparent lack of pass rushers taken and a surplus of ilb types do we move Vilma outside/ or all over the field to rush the passer? Thomas? McClover? I am a bit puzzled.
Thomas will play OLB on one side. The other, as of now, I suppose would be a battle btwn Hobson and Chatham (our 2 best blitzers as of yet). But theres still space for a draft pick...
I think Thomas is going to surprise a lot of people at OLB. The guy is 260, runs a 4.4 and is a force against the run. The only knock on him has been his problem getting to the QB with an OL in his face. If you line him up at OLB, he can avoid this problem with his speed. I'm actually really excited to see what he does. Also, no one knows what McClover can do. He has blazing speed, but can be effectively play OLB in a 3-4?
Thomas and Chattam are the prototypical pass rushers for the 3-4, however Hobson blitzes very well as does Barton. We still might take an undersized DE, there are still several from smaller schools still available.
We still have McClover ya'll. I'm a Noles fan and never doubt any player from any of the big 3 (McClover coming from the U).
