Not that te Jets would even consider that, but...

Why would Chad come back to the team that tossed him like trash?

    He's a future QB coach, OC I can't see.

Schotty won't leave if things continue as they are.

He'd be crazy to leave, maybe he can get assistant HC title.

OC What? I think Chad should open up a flower shop first.

    Word.

Still, that's one screw-up (the Schlegel one sucked too).

But now we're seeing players, that he hand a hand in selecting, contribute under Rex. And some of these are players that we were ready to write off:
    1. Eric Smith (I couldn't stomach watching this guy, but he's had a hella improved year so far).
    2. Brick
    3. Mangold
    4. Leon
    5. Brad Smith (I happen to think he's valuable and brings a lot to the table, despite his lack of true WR skills)
    6. Drew Coleman (don't think he's good in coverage, but he's been contributing this year and is a pretty effective blitzer)
    7. Revis
    8. Harris
    9. Stuckey
    10. Keller
    11. Lowery
    12. Ainge

The verdict is still out on some of these guys, especially Gholston. Nevertheless, Mangini helped acquire players who are doing a fine job.

One thing that should be noted is that - and we always knocked this (myself included) - Mangini sought intelligence and character in his players. Right now, that's paying dividends. Look how easily the players have grasped Rex's scheme. If not for their intelligence and diligence, things may not have begun to click this soon.

So yeah, I wouldn't be opposed to bringing him back as some sort of talent/personality evaluator -- just as long as he's not personally interacting with the players once they're on the roster haha.

I think Cavanaugh is a more likely candidate. He was the OC during the Ravens' Super Bowl victory and he's one of Ryan's close friends on the team. Plus, he's already taken over Schotty's other job with the team.
