So the Jets are far superior in talent to the dolphins in almost every area = Dolphins win!!!!

After breaking down film of both teams, Scouts Inc. offers 10 things to watch in this week's Jets-Dolphins matchup.

    1. Can the Jets force Miami QB Chad Henne to win the game? The Dolphins are at the bottom of the league in pass offense and the Jets have one of the most opportunistic secondaries in the NFL. Corners Darrelle Revis and Lito Sheppard can handle the Dolphins' wide receivers one-on-one, leaving everyone else to crowd the box and stop Miami's run game. The Jets simply do not give up big passing plays on defense.

    2. Jets QB Mark Sanchez should attack the deep middle: The Dolphins' safeties, Yeremiah Bell and Gibril Wilson, are better in run support than coverage and they love to attack the line of scrimmage in run situations. Sanchez has an excellent pass-catching tight end in Dustin Keller, who does a good job running the seam route. If Bell and Wilson bite on play-action fakes, it will create a promising hole in the deep middle of the field for Keller.

    3. Can Rex Ryan's defense stop Miami's Wildcat? Yes. Ryan understands the Wildcat formation and he defended it very well when he was in Baltimore. His attack mentality fills every gap and it will make it very tough for Miami to create run lanes. Ryan does a great job of bringing inside pressure and he will attack Ronnie Brown on the direct snap.

    4. The Jets must find Miami OLB Cameron Wake: The former CFL star is a perfect fit in the Dolphins' 3-4 defense and had a big game in Week 4 against Buffalo. He has excellent first-step quickness and a nice counter move. He is primarily a pass-rusher in nickel and dime packages and moves all over the field to get good matchups.

    5. Don't make Sanchez do too much: Sanchez regressed versus the Saints' defense in Week 4, and his decision-making and ball security are getting a little sloppy. The Jets have a potentially lethal run game behind a big offensive line, but it is not yet clicking on all cylinders. If Thomas Jones and Leon Washington play well, it will take some pressure off Sanchez and open up excellent play-action opportunities.

    6. Miami need to keep running the ball: Playing with a young QB (Henne), the Dolphins have resorted to a run-first mentality. That keeps their defense fresh and minimizes the potential for Henne making mistakes. Brown and Ricky Williams will get a heavy workload in this game.

    7. The Dolphins' offense must continue to convert on third down: Miami is the best in the league on third down (33-for-61), mainly because it excels at running the ball on first and second down, creating many third-and-short situations. The Dolphins' ability to convert on third down in this game will keep the clock moving and keep a more explosive Jets offense off the field.

    8. The Dolphins must protect the edges on offense: The Dolphins' run-blocking seems to get better each week, but their pass protection is still suspect -- especially on the edge. Blitzes are not picked up consistently and a mediocre Buffalo pass rush recorded six sacks. Ryan will likely bring allout pressure with some overload blitzes off the edge, where there are more rushers than blockers. If Miami's offensive tackles don't pick it up, this could be a tough night for Henne.

    9. Let Henne make some plays: Even though Miami ran the ball 45 times versus Buffalo, the Dolphins let Henne make some throws on run downs and he had the freedom to air it out a little bit. He has a big arm and he can develop into a quality deep passer who can really force a defense to play honest. This will continue to be a run-first offense, but Henne will likely take more deep shots than you might think.

    10. Miami center Jake Grove vs. Jets NT Kris Jenkins: Jenkins is the most dominating inside player in the game right now, and it is unlikely Grove can handle him without help. Jenkins has power and rare explosiveness and can collapse the pocket versus the pass. He can also stack versus the inside run and make it nearly impossible to run up the middle. Grove plays hard and is a good anchor guy, but he cannot hold up alone versus Jenkins' bull rush.

    Prediction
    New York 13
    Miami 17

Hi, your friendly Dolphins fan here. It could happen. The Jets are a very good team but I think Miami can beat them. Will my Phins? I hope so but I'm not sure. It all depends on the running game. If the Jets shut down Ricky and Ronnie they win. If the Dolphins can run at will like they did against Indy or Buffalo then the Phins will win and here's why.

The Colts won because of Dolphins mistakes and because they have a legendary QB in Peyton Manning. Sanchez isn't quite there yet. I don't think he can beat the Dolphins with the Dolphins winning the time of possession battle the way they have. It all comes down to the running game. Which team runs better and stops the run better will win. This is going to a be a nasty one. But it makes the AFC east the most interesting division in football.

I can't wait til monday night!

I want to ask all of you Dolphin fans...have you watched the Jets at all this year?

This is the same team that pretty much shut down Chris Johnson and held the Saints to 10 points. You can look at the score of the Saints game and say the Jets D gave up 24, but if you watched, you'd know the Defense only LITERALLY gave up ten.

So I ask you...is the Chad Henne (who by the way is an NFL new comer as well wink wink) led offense gonna beat up on the Jets top 5 defense, or vice versa.

Sanchez needs to manage the game. Although we won't want him to have to throw all day, Miami will have to play for Edwards deep. Run, run, run,....throw.

listen, as a jets fan, im always nervous for games like this, always, its in my primal instinct to be nervous. But i really would be very very shocked if miami won, or even came within a touchdown of winning. Did you see what rex ryan did to miami and the wildcat last year in the playoffs? The jets defense gave up 10 points to new orleans last week, and i think if we hadnt turned the ball over it wouldve been less. I honestly cant see Miami contending with the jets, and im not being a homer here. Like I said, i get this feeling of, could it happen??? because im a jets fan, but when i look at this out of rationality instead of blind habitual fear (that this team this year defies), i honestly cant see miami putting up much of a fight.

those scouts inc things are always waaaaaaaay off

i remember when the colts played the phins they had the colts with an advantage in EVERY category

you can't honestly look at the colts and think that they have a better running game or linebacking core than miami

so i usually throw these things out the window

I think the Jets need to play their best to win the game. If we come in sloppy or complacent then Miami will beat us.

Yeah I've watched you guys and your defense is pretty impressive so far. I thought you had one of the better up and coming "D''s before Ryan came in. Yeah it's going to be a real challenge to get points on the board in a traditional fashion this week. Were gonna need something to happen on special teams and or defense in the form of turn overs and field position. It's not like you guys are gonna go up and down the field on us either (At least I hope not) You haven't exactly been playing teams with lights out 'D' so far. I see a low scoring game and it's really anybody's game IMO. I know everyone says this but whoever wins the turn over battle will win the game.

please tell me you didnt just say the Dolphins have a lights out defense......

79 points have been put against you. Peyton Manning put up 27 in less than 15 minutes.

The Jets have allowed 57 total points, 21 of which were scored on our offense, which means in 4 games, we have allowed 36 total points on defense.

The dolphins have played Atlanta, Indy, San Diego, Buffalo
The Jets have played Houston, New England, Tennessee and New Orleans.

You can't argue we have played better offenses to this point. Secondly we have allowed 43 points LESS than you on defense, against better more explosive offenses.

Please tell me you aren't considering your defense a "lights out D"

Thats not what I said, I was just making the statement that you guys haven't been playing lights out defenses. Another words the games where Sanchez has looked he wasn't really being tested. So your not really 100% sure what you have in him yet.

As far as our 'D' it's in no way lights out as far as the secondary in fact it's been garbage, but the rush 'D' has been lights out.
