MAKING ADJUSTMENTS, that is the key to being a good coach, you can nitpick not challenging or not calling proper timeouts almost eveyr game.. Rex completely shut down the wild cat without Jenkins this time.. Too me thats the sign of a good coach..
That is the sign of a good coordinator, which there has never been any doubt he is. It's the extra stuff that comes with being a head coach that he has yet to consistently show.
+1 6 yards on 7 WC plays. Compare that to 110 on 16 WC plays, and Rex did make the right adjustments. I have no problem with Rex, he may have a few more Rookie mistakes but in the end I'm glad we got him.
I agree but he hasn't been doing it for even a year yet. We're all frustrated, but you have to give him time. I'm not an apologist for him, but he's a rookie just like Sanchez and a new job is a new job it takes time.
just like we need to deal with the development of a rookie quarterback we also need to deal with the development of a rookie head coach. both will get better with experience and time and we'll be better for it. next year we will have a much better chance of doing something (getting far in the playoffs) than this year because of that.
exactly. hats off to Ryan and the Jets for building a very good defense. But his head coaching is what will keep you from overachieving and making any serious pushes towards a superbowl. Rex is just like his dad, great coordinator, shitty head coach. While Rex probably will be a better head coach than his dad, that says very little since his dad sucked at being a HC.
You are not a very good troll, please try again- You know nothing about Buddy, and are just a parrot repeating what others have said. Please if you're going to troll at least try and be original.
to be honest I think Rex is doing the right things as a young HC. He is keeping continuity in place here in NY. He is also not trying to be Mangini in the sense the organization goes through me, he is deffering to those who know more about their area. He is taking control of the defense, while letting the offensive guys coach the offense and letting the special teams guys coach the special teams. He has great coaching on the team to help him out, in ex-HC Bill Callahan, and super man ST coach Mike Westoff. Yes his time management needs work, but he has never had to worry about it before. Give it time, he will figure it out. One thing I absolutely love, is that whenever there is a choice involved between being aggressive and being conservative, the man is 100% aggressive. He used a TO at the end of the first half because he felt that his defense would stop them and it could give Sanchez time to move the ball into FG range. (which btw is what you guys berated him for not doing at the end of game 1 with Miami, keeping the TO instead of using them to try and get us some time on Offense to make something happen). He goes for 2 a little bit early in the game believing 100% in our offense to get it, and then 100% in the defense to stop them so we only need a FG to tie it. He makes the trade up for Sanchez in the draft, he trades up for Greene in the draft, at the start of FA, 12:01 am he is outside Bart Scotts house with other coaches to make damn well sure he gets his man. He goes out and gets Braylon Edwards mid season to improve the glaring weakness on the team. 4th down and whatever against New England? Rushes 7 guys and gets a bad throw by Brady. I mean 100% aggressive across the board and to me that screams "I am confident on every single play, my team can line up across from you and smack you in the mouth, and we will win every single play." And you know what? I love it. yes the last couple of games, outside Oakland, we havent executed, but you know what, Rex still has that same thought, and its not a fake thing just told to the media, he clearly believe it, and you know what that will get him very far, and he will be a great HC for a long time, as long as he has the players to continue being aggressive with. Which for the time being, he damn sure does.
I know nothing about Buddy? Okay Einstein, how about actually posting something that refutes my argument instead of mouthing off like a moron?
Buddy didn't win a Super Bowl because he had a franchise defense/no QB in Philly and the Cardinals organization just plain sucked. And Randall Cunningham is not/not a franchise QB. Tremendous physical speciman but not the answer. If Buddy had a Phil Simms type QB in Philly that team probably would have won a championship or two.
Refute your attempt at seeing the future? I'll give it a shot. His ability to build great defenses will help when games because Defenses win championships. I can do it too, YAY!!! Your argument was why he won't be a good coach, and analyzing a rookie head coach after 8 games. It's not an argument just an uneducated opinion and more an underlying hope of what will happen. DOUCHE BAG!! Sorry needed to do that.
RR did a good job yesterday. The NYJ outplayed Miami on both sides of the ball. Obviously, special teams fucked it all up.
Its typical of us Jets fans to jump to conclusions right away bc we haven't won anything in forever. We'll have a better idea in to next season what we have w/ the rookie head coach and qb mid way through next season.
I love the adjustments. Game 1 Miami beats the living hell out of us all game and we almost pull it out. Game 2 we beat the hell out of Miami all game and almost pull it out.
Ryan is a defensive coach. I don't ever expect him to get beaten by the same team twice on defense. Yesterday was a game that they should have won because of that. Unfortunately ST killed us, what can you do? However, he still has a long way to go especially on the offensive side of things.
Rex Ryan is all about "his" defense. Guess what Rex. You're a head coach. It should be about his "team". He also needs to stop making excuses after a loss because that trickles down to the players (Bart Scott). No coincidence that Scott talks the way he does because the 2 have been together for a while. And one last observation. When the Jets defense or special teams make a huge play, it's because they are good. When the opposition does it it's a fluke or gimmicky or they got lucky. A helluva defensive coordinator but has fallen short as a HC so far.
I'm good with Rex. He has room for improvement. He needs to be smarter with challenges, he needs lose weight and he needs to fire Schotty.
It was very nice to see the adjustment from game to game. Now we just need to have all three phases come together every game. I still cannot believe we completely dominated Buffalo and Miami at home and lost. Looking at the box scores makes it so much worse.
