Saw Cutler on NFL network, bench pressing 225 lbs only a few times less than some offensive linemen (what's the chance of Chad doing that?). Let's pray that Lienert and Young look really good in their individual workouts so that New Orleans and Tennessee fall back in love with them. I think Cutler is the man at 4, if he's not gone first!

Let's pray Cutler has an awesome workout so someone else reaches for him. Benching like a lineman, while nice, doesn't make a good QB.

why would either one of them work out at all? What, they're going to imporove their draft position by running a good 40?

You reach no matter what with draft picks. It's a gamble no matter where or who you pick. Tell me who you think is a sure thing?

I must admit, I was surprised he did 24 reps at 225. Most O-Lineman only did 28-30 reps.

Amen my friend! I think he is better then both the forementioned. He is the best pure qb in a while & I think the JETS would be stupid not to jump on him. With a great qb you always have a chance to win ala Elway, Montana, Brady, Bradshaw, Staubach, Griese........Sure guys will argue, but they had great teams & great lines....well then build one!

But with a solid qb you always have a chance to win. How many JETS games must you watch & say there is no way we are going to win with this guy taking snaps.

Remember Joe Willie.........Shea sold out because we always thought we had a chance.

Now that we have Cutler lets build a dam good line around him!

    Phil Savage

"I think Jay Cutler's put himself in position to be either the second or third quarterback taken," said Browns GM Phil Savage. "He doesn't come from a football factory, so he's a little bit like Charlie Frye [who played at Akron] in that he hasn't had a lot of great players around him, and he's played against better opponents in adverse circumstances and lived to tell about it."

Savage said Cutler "may have the strongest arm of the three and he's probably the second-best athlete" behind the scrambling Young

But Young, whose Texas Longhorns beat Leinart's Trojans for this year's national championship, could also slip. NFL scouts and GMs - Savage among them - question Young's unorthodox delivery and lack of experience in a pro-style offense

"If you took a poll, most people would say Leinart is the safer pick," said Savage. "You're probably going to hit a double every time with him. The other guy [Young], you're either going to strike out or hit a home run.

"When you're talking about $60 million contracts, you might be better off taking the double."

Savage said he thinks Young "has the most to prove between now and the draft. People see him as a show-stopping difference-maker type of athlete." But he thinks coaches will struggle with his throwing motion and shotgun experience

The Jets have a lot of huge wholes with the offense and while I think Fergie would be a good, safe pick, and I think we will all be kicking outselves for years to come if Cutler gets by us

By the time the draft rolls around, it may not be a reach to grab him at #4. Believe it or not, draft boards change.

In my mind, it would be a huge reach. If they take him, I'll support him because I'm a fan of the jersey, but I just do not see top 5 talent.

Boards change, talent does not. I do not see top 5 talent there. I'm much more interested in what a player does in GAMES than what they do with a stopwatch. Last time I checked, stopwatches do not cover players, or throw passes.

From what I've seen in games, Cutler is a good QB, but he's not a top 5 QB. I was thinking bottom of round 1 when I saw him. To hear we're thinking about him at #4.. ouch.

Now, trade down and snag him around 15? I can live with moving up for a guy a little like that. I know, I know, he won't last. However, people said that about Rodgers last year too and he went 24th.

Come draft day, if both Young and Cutler are available, who do you take?

Wow, now Leinart and Young are the sloppy seconds? Cutler's hype is going way overboard.

I have to admit that if the Jets had their choice of Cutler or Ferguson at #4, I would want Ferguson. But some players talents actually translate better into the pros then they do at the college level. Cutler may be one of those players. Who knows, maybe I am just buying into the hype.

Maybe it's a hunch, but I think Leinart is the surest thing since a certain quarterback out of Tennessee in 1998.

If I remember correctly, there was a certain middle linebacker available at the #12 overall pick that a lot of people thought could be had later on in the first round and were upset when he was taken at the #12 spot and not traded down for. Granted #4 and #12 are very different, but the point is, if the guy is there and he is exactly what you want, why get cute about it?

I'm a huge fan of trading down, especially with the needs that this team has, but if they don't think Cutler would be available later on in a trade down, or no one wants to trade up, and he is the guy they want, take him.

im with you on this one.

But i do hope Cutlers hype continues to rise so the jets can trade down a few picks to a team that is cutler thirsty.

I tihnk it would be a big mistake to fall to this hype and pick him at 4. He may end up being a decent qb but he will not live up to the hype of the best qb out of this draft (some of you were saying)

we could sit here all day and throw out successfull later round picks, or unsuccessfull early picks, but the point is we know,... drafts are for the most part unpredictable. We can only hope and take a chance on the player that has a better opportunity to do well in the nfl. In my mind, this is not cutler

either way, whether it is Cutler or Young still available at 4, I am sure the Jets are going to get a lot of calls about the pick when it comes time for it. personally, I think the Jets are simply positioning themselves with the hype for Cutler to increase demand for their pick if he is still there at number 4. if Young is still there, despite concerns there is more than enough demand for him. The Jets could make out alright with trading the number 4 pick with whichever of them are still available, if we really don't have an interest in drafting a QB this year.

personally, Leinart is the only QB I'd take with the number 4 pick, though I'd take Cutler over Young. at least he can throw the ball.

  20. Awesome post. Which is why I keep trying to downcast the people who insist Leinart is the next CP or that Cutler is the next Boller. You cant look at the draft that way. All you can do is evaluate the talent, get your overall grade and based on those grades make the best decision for the team. Which is why I keep saying: Despite me being a "Cutler" guy I think that it comes down to our coaching staff. If D'brick has the higher overall grade and he fits in our system...than take him. If Cutler has the higher grade, you take him. Bottom line. There is no need for JP Losman comparrisions.
