Why? I feel as if the Colts continue to run the table they'll want to rest the starters. And if the Jets do pull off the improbable it would help their chances.
quick question.. if we end up in a tie.. are tiebreakers determined by conference record, divisional record, or record between teams...
i watched this team beat the patriots.. and basically be in ever single game they have played.. i actually WATCHED the team.. rather then just check the score every now and then.. we have a pretty good team.. with a lot of potential.. All I'm saying is that it is still possible.. however, even if we do make it to the playoffs.. i don't see us going very far.. but I'm getting WAY ahead of myself.. right now looking forward to the bills game and letting sanchez redeem himself for such a shitty performance last time out..
If two teams in the same division finish with identical records, the following tiebreakers will be used, in this order, until a champion is determined. 1. Head-to-Head 2. Division Record 3. Common Games 4. Conference Record 5. Strength of Victory 6. Strength of Schedule 7. Combined Ranking Among Conference Teams (points scored and points allowed) 8. Combined Ranking Among All Teams (points scored and points allowed) 9. Net Points (common games) 10. Net Points (all games) 11. Net Touchdowns (all games) If three or more teams in the same division finish with identical records, the following tiebreakers will be used, in this order, until a champion is determined. 1. Head-to-Head 2. Division Record 3. Common Games 4. Conference Record 5. Strength of Victory 6. Strength of Schedule 7. Combined Ranking Among Conference Teams (points scored and points allowed 8. Combined Ranking Among All Teams (points scored and points allowed
Tiebreakers are based on a few things.. How many teams and are the teams division opponents.. Our best scenario is going 10-6 and having Balt, Pitt, Jax and houston lose a 7th game.. Right now Balt and pit play each other one more time, so one of them will be at 6 losses for sure.. Example: We finish 10-6, Baltimore finish 10-6 everyone else is 9-7 8-8 or 7-9... It would come down to head to head first, since neither of us played then it would go to conference record (we being 7-5 and the Ravens would have to lose 1 more AFC game to be 7-5 on the year.) Then since we are dead even it would go to 4 common games.. Ravens lost to NE, Cin (2 times) INd and have to play oakland.. at best they would be 1-4.. We split with NE, beat Cin, IND and Oak giving us a 4-1 record, theus making us the 6th seed.. this is one of many scenarios.. Wait 2 weeks, if we get to 7-6 and sit tied or 1 game out with 3 to play then it might become more clear... REfer to this espn standings, then click tiebreakers for information

Because I hate the Colts that much and want to see them get their first loss. I also foresee the Jets playing down to the level of Indy's back-ups anyway.
I'd like to see the Jets get above .500 before playoff talk starts, but I'm still gonna go ahead and root for the NFC North teams in the meantime.
It's funny how surprised people act that we're mathematically in it, like they've never witnessed an NFL season before. If you're within a game of 500 up to the last few weeks of the season you always have a chance, there is a slew of AFC teams around 6-5 or 5-6 right now as there always is. Stay in the thick of it, get hot late and you have a chance. I don't know if we're going to make it or not, as long as we're not playing meaningless games, that's something to keep rooting for.
Absolutely...this happens every year. Though, youd prefer to go into the last four -- with 5 losses -- not 6 -- but this is par for the course. A little tougher this year because of lousy division record.
The Pats are getting destroyed, have yet to win on the road, and after this they have to be second guessing themselves. I think the AFC East is wide open. Of course the big problem for us is we need to take care of business. Not the strong suit of the Jets in their history.
It's nice to see NE lose a game, but winning the division will still be tough. Unfortunately gotta root for miami or buffalo to take won or both from them for us to get a chance. Wild Card may even be harder. lots of good teams in the mix. Well, at least we still have a chance. It will be a fun couple of weeks. GO JETS!
Ah, this just makes it tougher to swallow a few of our losses this year. The Miami and Jacksonville losses are becoming tougher to stomach than the Buffalo loss since Miami and Jacksonville have tie breakers over us now.
