Parcells doesn't really need to give a crap. He can walk away from that job anytime he wants now. And his likely replacement would be Carl Peterson. We can only hope...
All those guys are in touch with each other. They move from team to team but the coaching fraternity is what it is.
The schedule looks more like 10-6 wildcards than 9-7 at this point. Here's team by team (with favored wins bolded): New England - @ Miami, Carolina, @Buffalo, Jacksonville, @ Houston. A path to 10 wins is easy to see at this point. Miami - New England, @ Jacksonville, @ Tennessee, Houston, Pittsburgh. No 10 wins, no way no how. Jets - @ Buffalo, @ Tampa Bay, Atlanta, @ Indianapolis, Cincinnati. I gotta say that the odds on getting to 10 wins is really low. Like almost invisible. Cincinnati - Detroit, @ Minnesota, @ San Diego, Kansas City, @ Jets. Easy path to 10 wins. Pittsburgh - Oakland, @ Cleveland, Green Bay, Baltimore, @ Miami. Path to 10 wins is basically beating 2 out of 3 of Green Bay, Baltimore and @Miami. Doable if Roethlisberger is playing and not if not. Baltimore - @ Green Bay, Detroit, Chicago, @ Pittsburgh, @Oakland. Path to 10 wins is to beat the bad teams and split @ Green Bay, @ Pittsburgh. Doable if Roethlisberger is not playing (see how that works?) and tough if he is. Jacksonville - Houston, Miami, Indianapolis, @ New England, @ Cleveland. Rough road to 10 wins. Have to either beat Indy (lost 14-12 on the road to them earlier) or go into New England and win that game with the Pats also still fighting for a spot. Houston - @ Jacksonville, Seattle, @ St Louis, @ Miami, New England. Another rough road to 10 wins. The franchise has no record of getting hot at the end so probably the least likely of the contenders other than the Jets to actually get to 10 wins. Tennessee - @ Indianapolis, St Louis, Miami, San Diego, @ Seattle. I sure as hell wouldn't want to be playing them right now. Outside shot at 10 wins although if they beat Indy on Sunday it'll look like a real possibility. Tennessee is the streakiest team in the NFL, if they're going good they're great and if not they're terrible. San Diego - @ Cleveland, @ Dallas, Cincinnati, @ Tennessee, Washington. Easy path to 10 wins and 11 looks likely. Denver - @ Kansas City, @ Indianapolis, Oakland, @Philadelphia, Kansas City. 10 looks like the number for them. Ok, so not including Indianapolis we have 4 teams on what looks like an easy path to 10 wins: New England, Cincinnati, San Diego and Denver. We have two other teams in Pittsburgh and Baltimore who between them seem likely to produce a 10 game winner. If Roethlisberger is playing the Steelers look like a strong chance to do it and if he's not then Baltimore has the good shot. Now throw in Tennessee on a tear with 3 weak teams on the schedule and 9-7 just looks like an unlikely proposition to be the 6th spot.
It's like reading an old Mike and the Mad Dog show when they pick all the Ws and Ls but get everything wrong. The difference is here we can bump the thread and give you a hard time about it.
Agreed, but not just that, it isn't like he gave him the Parcell's Blue Book to being a HC... he simply said what Rex probably was already realizing himself. I doubt he gave him much more than that statement and some encouragement. If Rex turns into some kind of great coach I don't think you can lay much credit at Parcell's feet because he dropped some advice on him.
I think you are correct, he probably just reinforced to Rex sooner than later, that he will pay with his job if he doesn't start dictating to the rest of the coaches what he want's to see and that he can't worry about hurting their feelings.
 He has a ball boy in place!!!! That ball boy has done more for this team after going to Cleveland.
Again??? 1 Superbowl win with only 2 back to back seasons with 10 wins or more not really great in my eyes.
ND- were you at the game down there??? It is so guy. The put your "fins up" announcer first play of game Miami with "Another first down" The red carpet of the owners coming in. Ill give them credit the action outside the stadium was fun for sure. The whole vibe inside was so contrived and "South Beach" it was Gay Gay Gay.
Parcells to Cleveland? Is that a done deal? There is no horseracing in Cleveland and there is a ton of it in FL. In any event Parcells is brilliant and hilarious and a prick. He is a major deal in the coaching fraternity. These guys all talk to each other all the time except for bellichik who is a loner and a deceitful cheating douchbag.
