I'm finally catching Vilma's interview on NFLNetwork. He is very intelligent and he knows the game. Vilma for a young guy seems to understand the business side of the league also. He has a good sense of humor too!

His take on Drafting OLine in round 1 was as solid I have heard. Basically he said Olineman drafted in the first round usually have long careers - 10 - 12 years (barring injury). So by them drafting Da Brick and Mangold the team is committing to the future.

About Chad and passing on leinart, the team is pulling forchad. He talked about how hard Chad works and how he is pulling for him.

    Vilma is the man!

Vilma is a fucking stud. Solid leader. Kind of player you sign the long (long long) term contract to.

Perhaps Vilma is Bradway's finest hour. Sent the card up with 14:50 still on the clock. Has been a leader since day 1. Would like to see the Jets protect him a bit more in '06 than '05 so that he's free to be a stud again.

Honestly, I don't want this guy to ever wear another teams jersey as long as he is in the NFL. I hope that after this season we give him a 5-7 year deal. PAY HIM TANNY!

I love Vilma, but Bradway lucked out with the pick...I don't give Bradway ANY credit for being GM during his tenure with the Jets...Bradway sucked.

We can all agree that Bradway was a bad GM and are glad that he is gone, but as far as drafting players, Bradway wasn't that bad.

    He brought in guys like:
    Santana Moss
    Lamont Jordan
    Kareem McKenzie
    James Reed
    Erik Coleman
    Kerry Rhodes
    Jonathan Vilma
Dewayne Robertson (still could turn out good)
    Mike Nugent
    Justin Miller

    And plenty more.

Bradway had problems with everything else. That is why Tannenbaum made him a scout. Because he actually is good at that.

Of course I followed him at the U, and was thrilled to see him keep wearing green (if not orange)...

Thank you! At least I am not the only one around here that understands that Bradway was not a bad GM because of his eye for talent. The guy is widely regarded around the league as a talent genius.

That said, he couldn't negotiate a tank full of great whites to a bloody, drowning horse. Maybe if he threw in a matching elephant, and an extra meal next year...

He just couldn't stop throwing money at people. He also had no clue how to value trades. That made him a bad GM. As far as talent evaluations go, almost every guy he brought in had the exact skills they wanted from the position.

As far as Vilma, he is unbelievable. I knew I was going to like him from day one when I heard he is fluent in something like 4 or 5 languages. Right there tells you he has a great mind inside that skull. That's the kind of guy I want leading my defense. Not to mention, regardless of common alma mater, when Ray Lewis gives you respect, you obviously have something.

    He is

Sorry but Valuing Trades and Contracts is a HUGE part of being a 'talent Genius" of Which I have NEVER seen this uttered about Boobway.... I'd pay money to see this quote somewhere.... "Widely" "Around the league"

No talent Genius would sign Chad to a top QB Contract... Talent Genius also missed out on Coles the 1st time around when Herm called him the MVP, it was easy to see Coles talent early and he was underpaid do to his college incident... The guy should have been paid based on talent - Just liek peopel are today saying Vilma deserves it - EARLY.... Why? Cuz it's obvuius and evaluating talent EARLY in this league saves you money and allows you to build.

He was "Ok" with the draft - Moss wasn't a good pick though - He traded UP in a draft loaded with WR's and took a guy he deemed a Special Teamer when the board and Jet fans I know were clamoring for the DT's on the board let alone normal sized WR's..... And Bryan Thomas when we ALL saw Ed Reed there....

Trading UP for Dewayne Robertson to appease the fans was probably, next to the Chad deal - the WORST deal I've seen in the NFL..... The guy was spooked.

    Genius..... OMFG

Keep in mind that Alio and myself are not saying that Bradway was a good GM. In fact I thought he was horrible. My point I was making was that he was always fairly good at drafting (especially in the later rounds)

He is clearly one if the best LB in the league. He also understands that we're rebuilding and its going to take time for him to get that ring on his finger. I really love seeing this guy play.
