Charlie Weis, with Paul Hackett as QB Coach.

I don't even want any of those guys, Charlie Weis, give up guys he's not going to leave his butt buddy in Bellicheat and his Husband in Tom Brady, we need someone simple, someone that has a system similar to the one he ran in USC THAT type of Pro-offense, argh wait that is Weis isn't it... well regardless we need someone new, i've tried to speak on behalf of him, but it's not working, were better off taking Sanchez's season as an L and look in the off season EARLY for an OC like right after the season is over so Sanchez and this new OC can work all summer long and maybe bring him up to speed, but who will it be... I wouldn't mind the OC of the Texans if that staff gets fired but I don't see that happening

Absolutely not, didn't we all hate Hackett when he was the OC? Why bring him back and why would he WANT to come back

Exactly. Change for the sake of change is nothing but a smokescreen. What would be smart is to find a better mind in the same type of scheme. Kind of how we did by replacing a stupid defensive HC with one that can actually run a defense with the personnel available.

the only concern i hear about changing offensive coordinators is that sanchez may regress. okay, usc ran a pro-style offense so why not get an OC that runs a similar system?

I have trouble believing that anyone who seriously lobbies for Charlie Weis has watched his career closely. Belicheck ran (and continues to run) the show in New England by himself. Weis has a huge ego which would clash with Ryan immediately.

Sanchez has already regressed. If the Jets have any doubts about Schotty's ability to develop Sanchez, the ideal time to replace him is as soon as possible.

Junc.....sorry man, I usually agree with you, but this time you are wrong. While I agree a change would set Sanchez back, it is not like the guy has come very far this season. He is NOT learning, and NOT changing his mistakes. I blame him partially, but I also blame the mentor. Yesterday was the most emotional I recall Rex on the sideline, and I think we all know he started to take a more active role in the offense due to the "challenges" the rookie was having. He would not have to do this is Schotty knew that the fudge he was doing. It is clear to me that Schotty is not and will not be the answer. Promote Callahan and keep some consistency when Schotty is removed.

I'm not too concerned about Continuity in our offense, I'd actually like to have no continuity....this offense sucks.

if half your list is going to be people we can't take to begin with, why not go all the way and go for Sean Payton, Head Coach of the Saints, and Peyton Manning, QB (and Offensive Coordinator of the Colts).

Sanchez does not look worse than he did earlier in the season, he is developing just fine. It's not his fault the expetctations for the fans are at an insane level for a rookie QB.

Clemens just isn't an NFL QB, that happens.

Favre was dropped in his lap w/ a month to go before the season playing in a new system for the 1st time in 15+ years. he did a phenomenal job w/ Favre considering the cirscumstances.

W/ Chad he was coming of ANOTHER season ending injury, he had no running game yet we went 10-6. In '07 Chad was playing hurt behind a brutal OL.

It's nice to throw a blanket statement out there w/o any context. He got Chad in a new system coming off another injury w/o a running game and Chad played well enough to guide us to 10 wins, in '07 we had no OL and Chad was hurt, in '08 he got favre a month before the season, this year is doing a great job developing a rookie QB. I don't care what the #s say, I can see w/ my eyes.

Next year if the O is still struggling maybe it's time to think about a move but we are not 7-7 b/c of the offense alone. The rookie QB has cost us 3 games but the D has cost us 2 and now STs has cost us another 2.

We should get Mark Whipple OC w/U of Miami. Former QB Coach w/Steelers when Ben had his breakout season and won a SB.

How about the former HC from Boston that had to quit his job to interview for our HC vacancy?

I still think Cavanugh will get the nod but maybe the other guy might be worth looking... after all if we brought him in for a HC interview Tanny must think highly of him.

He's a superior QB coach. Much like the Coordinator that fails as a HC..he simply got promoted on grade past his level.

Rich Gannon...Chad Pennington, Joe Montana...pretty good resume as a qb coach

    Jim Fassel,

The guy worked with Rex before and has also worked in NY so he knows the expectations. He also wants back in the league so bad that he took a job in the UFL.

I swear, junc, I'm trying to find a difference between these two posts.

I will give you this, junc: I was very happy to see Sanchez throw away some of the balls he did. I'd imagine those were "red" situations; a color code system the head coach put in place to help his young rookie develop.

I also think he made a GREAT switch at the line to a wide receiver screen.

Outside of that, how has he developed? Please explain outside of "I feel it" or "I can see it with my own two eyes." Is he more confident? More accurate? More decisive?

Interestingly, I just heard last night that Vince Young is giving Heimerdinger most of the credit for his turn-around. He said Heimerdinger has been pivotal in his own learning of the system, making reads, decisions, etc.

It's more than just calling plays. What Heimerdinger has done to improve Vince Young is exactly the type of tutelage Sanchez needs to become one of the best QBs in the league. Now, can anyone honestly say that you are confident in Schotty being able to do this?

And subsequently, Pennington was dropped into Miami's lap with a month to go before the season, in which he had to learn a new system. Henning didn't seem to have any problems teaching Chad on such short notice.
