"So the NFL decided to make a scheduling change for the last week for the season. Previously, the Bengals-Jets game was scheduled for 1pm, the same time as the Texans-Pats game. This was good for the Steelers, since we need both the Pats and Cincy to win. If they both started at the same time, they would both have to play their starters to fight for the #3 seed.

However, the NFL has just moved the Cincy-Jets game to 8:20pm on Sunday. This now means that the Bengals will be able to wait to see what happens in the Patriots game. If the Pats win, the game for the Bengals is useless and they can rest their starters (which screws the Steelers, since we need Cincy to win).

I'm sure the NFL didn't think of this when they were making the change, but this has serious playoff implications. The NFL should not be able to make changes like this.

For reference, the NFL made this change after all games were completed on Sunday.
    "

Wow Steelers fans are so pathetic. This is coming from the same team that the NFL cheated to win Super Bowl 40.

The Steelers screwed themselves for not beating KC, CLE or OAK.

Sorry you don't make the playoffs when you mail it in during November and early December.

We as Jets fans are king of doing something like this. Good thing we control our own destiny huh?

i don't know that this is fair...the Jets also screwed themselves by losing to BUF, MIA 2x, ATL, JAX etc...and if this were happening to the Jets we would be IRATE.

although I'm certainly not complaining with the scenario

Well at least all of our losses were against average teams (besides the bills)

The Steelers losses were all to the worst teams in the NFL.

ATL is .500 at the worst, JAX and MIA if they win are .500 too.

KC has 3 wins I think? OAK has 5 and CLE has I think 4. The lone team comparable is BUF.

KC, OAK and CLE are on the Tampa Bay level of bad......and we destroyed Tampa with a backup QB on the road.

NFL fans in general, are too emotional.

Most fans of any team would react the same way, even Jet Fans.

Sorry Steelers, you choked against inferior teams.

So the NFL is making up for essentially giving them Super Bowl 40 than. We're all even...
...except Seahawk fans. Who cares about them though.

even so can you agree from an objective standpoint that for the overall playoff picture the flex in schedule is heavily favorable to one team and very disadvantageous to other teams?

Well, you could say the original schedule was "screwing" the Jets. So whatever.

    I agree!! I never said it wasn't....life isn't fair.

Win your damn games and you don't need to worry about the shit Steelers fans are complaining about.

WHat other games could be put on national TV though?

Dallas and Philly had too many primetime games, that woulden't be fair to other fans to have to see them play once more.

GB/ARI? GB could very well rest their guys to not show anything to a team who could very well be their 1st round opponent in WC Round.

The Jets/Bengals game is an important game and should be the game flexed. If they just stand with a regular game that has no real implications, fans will complain about having a boring and non-competitive game with no meaning.

Steeler fans should be lucky that their game isn't on the same time as the Jets game.....this way they can see if their team has a shot or not by the end of the day rather than panic during their game.

Besides Miami is no walk in the park, lets see if Pittsburghs shows up vs them. If they do not, they do not deserve to be apart of the playoff conversation.

If I was a Steelers fan I would have been pissed as well. All important games in the last week should start at the same time really, but I guess prime time television and money is more important to the NFL than fair competition.

    They won it last year.

    Fuck off.

    And I like that franchise.

You can't beat teams with top 10 picks in the upcoming draft you don't deserve anything.

The Bengals should be sitting their starters, no matter the Pats' game. The Bengals have an opportunity to have a 'bye' week before the wild card game. They can scout the Jets' first team and plays live, while healing their starters and not risking injury to Carson or others, and then play the J E T S at home the following week.

Is there really that big of a Steelers' fan base here? I for one hate the Steelers and how they've had the Jets' number for so long. So.....I couldn't care less about that orginization and I hope they fail miserably.

So what game should have been flexed?

Teams rest their players every year before the playoffs. But usually they only people that get pissed are Fantasy Football geeks.
