that's all in the past....I'm looking towards the future....we have the top Defense and the top running game....that's a recipe for "championship" success. After watching the Jets play tonight...the fans have every reason to feel excited about the Jets playoff aspirations.
At this moment I like the Jets on Saturday in Cincy. However, by no means has this team arrived...they are still a work in progress, a terrific defense, sans an edge pass rusher they very much need, a ground churning offense, with limited playmakers, and no vertical passing game of which to speak at this point. Reading some of these posts and some are making plans for Miami in February.
I think the fact that we absolutely obliterated their starters for the entire first half is going to play a big factor in confidence levels on both sides. Let's just hope we can pull it off next week, and get on a bit of a run.
No its not. You were all over Sanchez's balls all season long and continued to put me down when I said we should play this exact same way, run, run, run and pass only when needed, at times Mark was not allowed to throw tonight and rightly so. OUR DEFENSE AND RUNING GAME CAN TAKE US FAR! Mark needs to play a Trent Dilfer like role and this team can go far. Still funny how you now say "this is the team I wanted."
Not a troll by any stretch, son, and if you listen to my radio program each night then you know I am a Jets fan since #18 was backing up Joe Willie. Just trying to bring a certain amount of sanity to this discussion, and tempering some of what I consider to be delusional thoughts concerning a Jets team that with a win tonight, over a Bengals team who had no interest in playing hard after the first 7-8 minutes...was a win with dilluted qualities to it. A great win, yes. A win for the ages, a defining win, a win that all of a sudden makes the Jets anywhere near the team to beat in the AFC? Come on now...you're better than that?
the jets are heading in the right direction.... I'm not saying we're super bowl bound...but i'm a little more optimistic right now...than i was last week. Every facet of the Jets game was clicking the way it should be.....and that's encouraging going into the playoffs.
What're you talking about? I never said we should let Sanchez chuck the ball out there. Get your facts straight, you got the wrong guy.
There's a time and a place for you to express these views. It's called Tuesday. At least let those of us who want to enjoy the win for what it is do so in peace!
You may not be a troll, but you're acting like one right now. We're all pumped about the win especially after expecting the worst (which isn't at all crazy if you've been through disappointment after disappointment), yet you're trying to shoot us down. Give it up, or at least wait until tomorrow when we're sober.
I like our chances next week on the road as well. We got in their heads tonight as they started out wanting to play 60mins but instead, got their asses handed to them and the game was over by midway 2nd period. We bring our same game intensity next week to Paul Brown Stadium and the Kittens won't have much chance. They've been playing mediocre over the last 5 weeks or so anyway and it appears they peaked too soon..
Bengals worst nightmare. National TV for the first time this year. Zero probowl pics. RESPECT! Play our best game! our best players! show the world.... ...that we actually do stink. Ug. now what to do????
They can run, yes, as they have proved all season long. They can play defense - although they aren't adept at rushing the passer and getting sacks. They have limited actual 'playmakers' on the offensive side of the ball. They have a green rookie quarterback who hasn't yet shown ( though I believe he will eventually) he can make a play when it's 3rd and 9, late in the game, and you need to move the chains. This is still an incomplete team, still a work in progress, still with some finishing touches that need to be made. Yes they are moving in the right direction (absolutely), but no, this win tonight did not make me think the Jets were any better tonight than they were in last week's win over a half Indianapolis team, nor any worse, than when they lost a few weeks ago to the Falcons at home. The Jets are exactly what their record suggests, 9-7, going to the playoffs as the #5 seed in the AFC, and simply to get to this point (with some major help lets not forget) the season is already a success. If they fail to win next week at Cincy, the Jets season is still a success in my mind. At this point they are playing with house money totally...I give them more than a punchers chance to win next Saturday...I think they'd lose by 21 if they ever needed to go to Indy and play the Colts at any point along the way.
People need to back off DC here as he's making valid points. All the man is doing is trying to temper down the expectations that tend to get overblown in situations like this. He's no troll as I've seen him around before and yeah, he's a Jets Fan too so folks, if the man wants to keep things in perspective, I see no reason to flame him for it..
Heck we lost to the Dolphins twice, Bills once, Jaguars, & Falcons and yet still made the playoffs. Says something. If this team won the games that they should have (which they lost all of them by 5 or less) they would have run away with the AFC East and even a bye.
Well...you're correct in some aspects....this team is still a few players away from being a perennial threat. But....nobody thought the Cardinals would do ANYTHING in the playoffs last year....and they proved all the pundits wrong. Anything is possible...and Rex is an excellent coach/motivator. Until we're knocked out...I will continue to believe in this team's chances.
I stand corrected. Look out world - here come the Jets...NOBODY wants to play the Jets - not at this point they don't. Bengals suck. Jets rule! All the negatives are in the past! It's a NEW season for the NEW NY Jets! Pass me another brew! My band of brothers Jets Nation!!!! YES! YES! YES! Fireman ED!!!! He rocks! Ochocinco sucks---shut down by the leagues BEST cover corner! REX RYAN should be given a lifetime contract! Sanchez is the SANCHIZE!!!! Giants blow too! Feel better now? Is this what it's like to be under the age of 25?
The Cardinals had a beast of a playmaking wr, another receiver who also gives defenses nightmares...and a seasoned and championship pedigree quarterback at the helm. Dude, get a grip.
