(from twitter) BobGlauber Unlike previous years, Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer now says he'd be happy to remain with club and not pursue HC jobs.
no, go pursue jobs. unless he wants to continue the abrupt 180 he's done in the past 20 days. But there needs to be a full season of high percentage, move the chains, plays rather than the bullshit i've seen during the entire stretch of the season.
I can't put too much stock in this. His attention is (I hope) directed to this weekend, but I assume that might stance might change after we win.
i think that a season of watching rex 'do it the right way' has scared the shit out of him. can you see shotty benching rhodes?
Nobody wants him as a HC seriously. That is why the Jets have to keep winning in these playoffs! Drive up his value!
I wouldn't be sad to see him go. God knows his play calling has frustrated all of us this year, but I think having Sanchez stay in the same system will help him develop. The best QBs in the league typically have been in the same system for a long time. A good way to stunt a QB's growth is to keep changing the offensive system he's in (see Campbell, Jason).
Good point, but the sooner he packs his bags the better. That way the 'Chize is still young and can get a (hopefully) decent play caller.
I think if you all think back to what we used to have with Paul Hackett's offensive prowess, you would be happy for Schotty to stay on as OC.
I think he finally may be figuring things out. He did not have Sanchez in an empty backfield once last week.Perhaps it was because Rex took a page from the old man and went upside Brian's head. I don't mind Schotty taking some chances (as an earlier poster mentioned, I don't think anyone wants to return to the dreadfully dull Hackett days), but he just needed to learn to walk that delicate balance. Some review of Parcell's teams would help him in that regard. I think he is finally figuring this out, so I will give him the benefit of the doubt just this one last time.
