We are a better running team than the titans. Mangold going against a 4th string NT, hell we won't even double block him, and we will be running on your ass all day.
He's back in California, at home, he'll be comfortable. The Chargers are the better team, but I don't see this being a rout. it'll be a good game. These two teams play each other close in the playoffs. You don't know who Nick Mangold is do you?
I forgot about that. That was genius (Schotty and genius in the same sentence? What?!) they went from the TigerCat directly to running the ball to the left with Shonn Greene all game and kept Sanchez passes smart. Slant routes, bootlegs, check downs. It was beautiful. Sanchez would have thrown one incompletion if Keller and Edwards can catch a perfectly thrown ball. And if that ball doesn't get batted down at the line.... does he go a perfect 15 for 15? hmmmm
This is exactly why we will win. The Chargers will believe in stop the run period. A couple of play action passes will have them off balance all game.
I'd keep Shotty here as long as he wants, he's getting better at calling plays and buying into the system, if it came down to it, he could leave after 3 seasons I don't mind that, but hes crucial to Sanchez's development, and as I mentioned earlier key word for this Jet Franchise at this point is cont-unity, we have great chemistry all around this CS, I hated Shotty before but i've began to like him, let him stay for a while, he's happy here and he's calling good plays, I wouldn't be pissed if he called a bad game, I mean I would but not enough to fire him
The Jets, starting with the coaching staff, seemed to get on the same page as soon as Rex decided to sit in meetings with offense. Something happened there and the whole picture began to change. It wasnt that Rex started to get involved in the playcalling etc...a common bond developed and we are seeing the positive results the last couple weeks. I wasnt a schotty fan either...but Rex and him have developed a chemistry and are totally on the same page. Add Sanchez to the equation and I would be very disappointed if Schotty left. I not only feel good about the offense in the future..but this week. Something is happening every week. Teams no longer can defend the Jets. I know that sounds absurd...but teams that cheat in the box have been exposed for two touchdown drops by Edwards...a touchdown catch by Edwards (falcons) the rebirth of Keller..Cotch has found a new life. Teams have two options against the Jets. In the beginning...teams were loading the box to force Sanchez to throw. Thats not the case anymore...they are loading the box to stop the run. If teams choose not to play at least 8 in the box...you cannot stop the Jet running game...period. Thats how well the offensive line is playing. If teams choose to try to stop the run...Sanchez will now make you pay. Let people keep thinking that teams are putting 8 in the box to force Sanchez to pass...but thats bullshit...they dont have a choice. When a very good run defense puts 8 in the box like the Bengals did...cant stop the run..and gets burned deep...teams now have a major problem against the Jets. I was thinking about that every time Sanchez completed a pass over the top..what can a team do? Play back? This team is slowly but surely becoming very hard to defend.
Great post. I wish people who were going crazy when the Jets ended up with Ferguson instead of (fill in the blank) Bush (trade up), Young (trade up), Leinhart, Cutler, etc realize this now. And the same goes for those that think that this team should draft a WR or RB in the first round this year. This game is won in the trenches and the Jets are building in the right place. The D-line needs shoring up and a pass rusher is still needed as is OL depth. The skill players on this team are fine.
Why would you want a rookie QB throwing on 3rd and long in a game like that with the running game humming and the opponent having no passing game at all? Why put the game in jeopardy? The difference between this team now and this team in the middle of the season (and the Atlanta game) is that Sanchez is not being asked to throw on bad passing downs (2nd and 3rd and forever) as much . How about we let the kid grow up first and keep mistakes to a minimum before the CS has him flinging the ball all over the field. It is not a coincidence that the Jets and Ravens both won on the road this weekend with their QBs throwing 15 and 10 passes respectively.

A couple of play action passes will have them off balance all game. ```````````````````````````````````````` What, you trust Sanchez, a rookie? The Chargers' D will dare him to throw the ball. Even Mr. Ryan knows that your only chance in even keeping up with Rivers' offense is to run the ball, and that my friend will not work on Sunday.
I heard Rex say (I think on this week's Jets Flight Plan) that ever since he's been sitting in on the offensive meetings, he's been giving his two-cents on how defenses might pick our offense apart. Basically, giving Schotty stuff to think about and adding new wrinkles to a certain play and formations, whether it be cutting off routes earlier, protection, motions AND Sanchez progression. In the last few weeks, I haven't seen 3 Jets receivers within 5 yards of each other for Sanchez to throw to. Cotch has been wide-open, Keller is now running loosely down the middle of the field or on drag routes, etc. I too believe the CS as well as the players are all on the same page. We are playing some really good, smart, football right now.
do the chargers boards not use the QUOTE button? i'm laughing at the fact a charger fan sitting there looking all giddy talking shit on the jets board while holding down the ` key.
sanchez just spent his first season learning shotty's system: 1- lock onto your receivers 2- be careless with the ball 3- throw into triple coverge 4- dive head first into linebackers 5- eat hotdogs on the sidelines 6- script your post game interviews 7- never wash the left side of your face 8- accept all the blame for a bad game plan sanchez has learned a lot this season....i'd hate to see him lose it all and have to start over.....
I think we need Schotty for one more year. It's a bad trend when you have a young QB that has a new OC every year.
I don't see how having Schotty's system here for 2 seasons only would benefit Sanchez. You want a young guy like that to have stability during his development. If they were going to cut ties with him, the ideal time would be after this season ends, to get someone that is more in sync with Rex's line of thinking and who had a history of developing young QBs successfully. But I don't see how that will happen now. Schotty and Rex seem to be more in sync than I ever thought they could be, and Sanchez is starting to work through a lot of those rookie shakes that plagued him through the middle part of the season. I criticized the hell out of Schotty through most of the season, but he is definitely making good on some of the hype that got him hired here in the first place. Sometimes you have to keep a good thing going... the question is, if the Jets make the playoffs next season and have a decent offense, will it be an option to keep him here?
I agree 100%, that is something he would not have done in the past, he also did not go into too many 4 receiver sets, which I also though was key. MS was also kept under center much more even when he was in the 3 receiver set, personally I loved that he used that formation a lot during the game. I don't know if anyone heard but the Bills officially asked for permission from the Jets to speak to BS. Sorry if someone posted already.
I don't think new posters are able to use the quote button until they have a certain number of posts, but it's not exactly rocket science to figure out how to wrap

Only way you stop our running game is by getting out to a 2 or 3 score lead early and forcing us to pass, which is very possible. That's what happened in your game against the Titans. Johnson still got his numbers but they couldn't lean on him because they were playing catch up all day. If the Chargers allow it to become a close, ball control game we will wear out their front 7 and their opportunities on offense will be very limited.
PFT is reporting that the Bills have asked the JETS for permission to talk to Shotty. But at this time, he is too busy preparing for the Bolts. Stay tuned.
