Loves Rex Ryan's confidence. Confidence in the locker room is high. Doesn't feel the pressure of Ryan's predictions. The locker room is strong enough to handle it. Why play for Rex? Well, he's one of the guys. Talk with you at any time. Easy to play for him. They love him. What about bringing the hammer down on players? Its a thin line, but when he needs to get after someone, he does. Step it up. Its a great balance and lets players develop. Sanchez has gotten a lot better. Preparing a ton. Extra time with everyone on the field. He just gets it now. Growing pains happened, battled through and developed as a person and a leader (fuck yeah!) Brian Schottenheimer is very important. Cotch loves this offense. Likes Schotty as a HC candidate. About Cotch keeping quiet when he was a rookie - knew his role. ST player and got an opportunity sooner than later. ------------------------------------------ Cotch will be the next Shaun Ellis. May never be an elite player at his position, but he's going to give 10 years of consistent, reliable play and we will love him for it.
Just watched that as well, Cotch is going to do exactly as you said, play ten years as a Jet, and I would not be shocked to see that by the time J-Co is done as a Jet, he may be the best statistical receiver the Jets have ever had. It would be great to see that be the case. side note: They just basically just argued that Revis should have been DPOY, but that woodson's int numbers were why he won it...
Word. Never throws anyone under the bus...even on the radio yesterday he talked about how he has "mad love" for Mangini. Yea, OK...I believe it. I really like that players and coaches are always glowing about Sanchez's work ethic. That is that "it" factor that people blabber on about... I love this team and Cotchery explains why...the locker room is as strong as it's ever been. A ton of young vets (D'Brick, Cotchery, Scott, Mangold, Leon, etc) that hold it together with older, high character guys like Ellis, Douglas, Woody, and Faneca. You have those two pieces, the rookies fall right in line and get into an environment that promotes and rewards hard work and discipline...No bitching coming from any of our guys.
Yep, he kind of snuck up on being my favorite Jet. The steady guys who make everybody else around them better are golden, and Cotchery just does everything you could ask him to do at 100%. No slip-ups (literally, he's the smoothest Jet on his feet since Curtis Martin was in his heyday), very few errors in play, lots of yards after the catch. That's just a strong player to have on the field.
Yeah I've always liked Cotchery and I think my next jersey will be his. He's one of those players who is never recognized, but he's damn good. He has just amazing hands, he RARELY if ever drops the ball, takes the big hits while always giving it his all for the extra yards. It's hard not to love the guy, I hope he retires as a Jet.
so when the jets were practicing in cortland, some of the coaches drove down to whitney point to an italian resturant "aiellos". When the left they gave the owner charlie a cotchery jersey that he hung proudly in the bar. i bet charlie that if he could name the player that wore that jersey, i'd buy the bar a round. he couldn't. hahaha.
Cotch has been one of the most consistent Jets these past few years. He very rarely fucks up. Good words on Rex, he does seam like a "players coach".
I love Cotchery... I'm torn between getting a Cotchery or a Greene Jersey... He is the quiet leader of our WR group. A hard working guy that's concentrated on his job... he is the Amani Toomer of the Jets (acutally I think he is better)...
One of my favorite Jets by far. Just does his job and lets his play speak for itself. Met him at the Freehold mall at a signing awhile back. Nicest guy you'll ever meet.
In summary, Rome kept calling him Chris until Cotchery flipped the table over and beat the shit out of him.
I'e had a Cotchery jersey for 2 years. He reminds me a lot of Curtis Martin, honestly. He just always does his job, and does it well.
As much as I hated Mangini, I could believe that Cotchery has some positive feelings toward him. If you remember, Mangini is the one who gave Cotch an opportunity to win a starting job, after Herm Edwards had him buried on the bench behind an underachieving McCareins. If there's anyone that Cotchery may be bitter toward, it would be Herm.
If I remember correctly, Herm said his biggest regret as HC of the Jets was keeping Cotch buried on the bench.
