Despite the fact that we are being doubted in every game we play, the wins get sweeter with every upset. The Jets are now 2 wins into a playoff run that all the analysts said would be one and done. Instead, that fate has befallen their opponents. The formula the coach is preaching is holding true, and we are winning close games just like he said we would when he got hired. It's fun to see a sports writer try to legitimate his incorrect pick against the Jets, then try to convince readers that the Jets should also lose the following game. The team is putting their feet into their mouths for them. I think what I love the most about being a fan of this team at this moment is the fact that we can all finally know that we have a Jets organization, top to bottom, that is dedicated to winning. That's the primary focus of the football team and they have the pieces to do it. The coach has set out a winning formula, he's proven that it works, and every player has bought into the philosophy and is dedicated to carrying it out. As long as we have that, we have a team we can feel good about and be confident in whether it's this week, next week, next year, or however long this lasts.
I can't allow myself to celebrate yet. The Denver AFC Championship Game still haunts me. Ahead 10-0 at the half and we lose 17-10 after Elway goes nuts and we play not to lose. Crushing, ugly loss. I've got to break through this game this weekend in order to really start believing again.
And it is just amazing how "luck" starts to come our way versus to the opponents when we have a winning attitude. We are winning exactly the kinds of games we use to lose when we played not to lose just waiting for something bad to happen. The Pats success started with the "tuck play" call. Perhaps we are poised for our long run!
it didn't really sink in until I was driving home last night. I turned on 1050 and started going nuts in the car. It's just amazing.
jeez i sat in bed till like 1 a.m flipping from sny to nfln to espn watching the same highlites and interviews over and over just to make sure this is really happen.this is freaking unbelievable.while 3/4 of me can't wait for the game sunday.1/4 keeps thinking how good we are gonna be next year with more experience, jenks, and leon back.30 years of rooting is paying off .
I don't think I slept at all last night - maybe an hour or so. This is by far the best feeling I've ever had about this team. Next week can't come soon enough!!
Congrats to the Jets! As a Colts fan, I must say that the Colts fans are looking foward to a rematch with the Jets. As far as being the underdog, there is no doubt the Jets are the underdog. The Colts (not as many of their fans do) realize that anyone you play in the AFC game is a great team. You don't get there by accident, and expect it to be a battle! I wish the Jets best of luck and look foward to hearing the banter between the two teams this week. I am compiling a head to head stat evaluation, I will be posting later. Section 626 formerly Section 302
Yeah, me too..all of a sudden Curtis Martin became a fumble machine, Testaverde throwing picks..I think we had 6 turnovers in all in that game.
The future is bright in Jets world. I'd say much brighter than it was 11 years ago. This team is built to win now AND into the future.
Win or lose, I'm a happy FUCKING Jets fan right now. Fuck the past, this is now and I'm going to enjoy it.
win or lose forget the past. We are a different team now. We are making our own mark. Indy is a power house offensively so we got to bring in our A game. My heart tells me we win it in a close one. But win or loose the ghost of 98 it's already gone in my mind
As amped up as I am about this win, I think Rex dodged a bullet in this game. The Jets were running a strict zone defense in the first half (pretty much their weakness) and San Diego was moving the ball well, but the Jets were able to tighten things up and keep the score to 7 points at halftime. Then New York switched straight-up man coverage in the second half and that is when the tide started turning in our favor. I can't imagine what kind of beating we would have put on them if we were man-up on them the entire game.
The funny thing is, at least a few of them are coming here asking to be honorary Jets fans today. Fuck 'em.
I love listening to the people who don't think we deserve to be hear. It's even better listening to the excuses they make after beating SD.
