Kelly scares me. He/She really does. Anyway, There's no way we're only carrying to guards, and there's no way we're carrying 5 safeties. There's no way we're carrying three centers. Maybe one on the practice squad.
First off, I'm sure all teams carry 3 QBs. Second, 4 may not be a horrible idea. Who the hell knows what the jets have with chad
Teams are permitted an Active List of 45 players and an Inactive List of eight players for each regular-season and postseason game. Provided that a club has two quarterbacks on its 45-player Active List, a third quarterback from its Inactive List is permitted to dress for the game, but if he enters the game during the first three quarters, the other two quarterbacks are thereafter prohibited from playing. Maybe there is not an actual rule prohibiting 4 QBs on a roster, but one is not even necessary. No team's carrying 4 QBs on a roster unless one is on the practice squad or on IR.
I cant see Dearth sticking with the team anymore. He gets paid alot of $$$ for being a long snapper and Dreesen will challenge him for that spot in TC. Everyone is right about the QB's. Bolly will get cut unless something dramatic happens to Ramsey or Chad. 2 roster spots open!
QB - Ramsey, Pennington, Clemens, Bollinger RB - Martin, Houston, Washington FB - Askew, Pociask TE - Baker, Dearth, Dreesen WR - Coles, McCareins, Cotchery, Dwight, Smith LT - Ferguson, Clement (also backs up Jones) LG - Kendall C - Teague (who can also back-up at T), Mangold (also helps to back up Kendall / Moore) RG - Moore, Morley RT - Jones DE - Ellis, Thomas (In 4-3) NT - Robertson, Pope, Pouha, Adams DE - von Oelhoffen, Johnson (also backs up Ellis in 3-4) OLB - Barton, McClover ILB - Vilma, Chatham ILB - Kassell, Schlegel OLB - Hobson, Chatham, Thomas CB - Dyson, Strait, Coleman S - Coleman, Rhodes, Maddox, Washington CB - Miller, Barrett K - Nugent P - Graham
No Brad Smith? Come on he is going to be one of our biggest playmakers. I think we should keep 4 QBs because who knows what's gonig to happen with Pennington. He may take 1 snap and ruin his shoulder again. Then we have Ramsey as the starter, Brooks as the #2 and let Clemens develop. I don't know about your line choices though. I think because we lost so many OL last year we will keep an extra player or two and I think you kept a little too much on the DL even though some would play LB. (4) QB: C. Pennington, P. Ramsey, K. Clemens, B. Bollinger (5) RB: C. Martin, C. Houston, L. Washington, B. Askew, J. Pociask (5) WR: L. Coles, J. McCarreins, J. Cotchery, T. Dwight, B. Smith (3) TE: C. Baker, D. Jolley, J. Dreesen (4) OT: D. Ferguson, A. Jones, A. Clement, M. Cavka (3) OG: P. Kendall, B. Moore, S. Morley (2) OC: N. Mangold, T. Teague (4) DE: S. Ellis, K. von Oelhoffen, M. Pope, M. McChesney (3) DT: D. Robertson, S. Pouha, T. Adams (8) LB: J. Vilma, E. Barton, V. Hobson, B. Thomas, B. Kassell, M. Chatham, A. Schlegel, D. McClover (5) CB: J. Miller, D. Barrett, A. Dyson, D. Strait, D. Coleman (5) S : E. Coleman, K. Rhodes, E. Smith, A. Maddox, R. Washington (1) K : M. Nugent (1) P : B. Graham (53) The focus for me was on making sure we had depth where we didn't last year (QB, RB, OL) and versatility (Morley, Teague, Kendall, Pociask, Dreesen, KVO, Pope, McChesney, Thomas, etc.). Also, I ordered them in what I thought was their likelihood of making the team not necessarily where they will be on the depth chart (ex. Clement before Cavka)
i like this draw up, I hope Dontrell Moore makes it though. OH AND IN AGREEANCE WITH RAMBO, BRAD SMITH WILL BE EXPLOSIVE! I think his presence should open up Coles play and vice versa
I agree with everybody on this roster, but really looking at this roster we really are not that good.We have no playmakers, those of u that are saying Brad Smith will be a play maker, cant really count on that being this year.he has get used to being a full-time wr.
The Jets can put all four QBs on their Week 1 roster, but they'll have one less player at another position. Most teams carry 10 offensive linemen and if the Jets carry four QBs, maybe they'd only keep nine linemen, which is the case in Rambo13's scenario. Gruden may keep four QBs By RICK STROUD, Times Staff Writer ? St. Petersburg Times published May 4, 2003 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TAMPA - Texas rookie Chris Simms is a terrific young talent and the son of a Super Bowl quarterback, but it doesn't mean he's ready to direct the defending Super Bowl champions. That's why Bucs coach Jon Gruden is considering keeping four quarterbacks on the 53-man roster this season, an unusual circumstance for most NFL teams. "We might keep four quarterbacks, honestly. We value that position and that's a possibility," Gruden said. "We feel strong about what (Shaun) King is doing out here and we feel strong about the possibilities with Chris Simms, although we have a long way to go. "We're not going to cut the roster down until much later. Everything right now is what it is. There's a competitive situation going on there for a job. Jim Miller's health is an issue. The fact is - you can just speculate right now - but he's going to have to return to health and be able to do the things that made him a 13-3 winner for Chicago. "If he can do that, I count on him making this a very interesting training camp." Miller, 32, who led the Bears to a 13-3 record two seasons ago, is recovering from surgery on a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder and won't throw a football until June or July. That gives a big edge to King in the battle for the No. 2 spot behind starter Brad Johnson. "It hurts, obviously, not being able to come out here and do things," Miller said. "But you do have to take the mental reps. I'm a firm believer that the game is played 90 percent from the neck up, so you've got to know what you're doing, first of all. "And I'm the type of guy who needs other guys around me to do well, so I've got to be able to direct and do things. Obviously, it feels like it sets you back, but I'm out here to learn as much as I can. "It'll probably be another month before I pick up a ball and start throwing. I probably won't be able to go every day in training camp, but I'm counting on being ready. I just need time to let this body heal. I got beat up a little bit last year." Meanwhile, King seems to have benefited from remaining in the same offensive system in consecutive seasons for the first time in his five NFL seasons. "There's no comparison. First time I've come to minicamp and not been at square one," King said. "It shows. I think I'm playing well, but I've got to keep improving. Hopefully, by doing that, I can push Brad. He's a very good quarterback, and if I'm doing that, I'm performing at a high level." During the regular season, it would be difficult to find repetitions for a fourth quarterback, who would will take a roster spot normally reserved for a special-teams player. But Gruden believes the Bucs can still develop Simms. "We get a lot of reps. We had over 100 snaps today, if you count the middle work," Gruden said. "There's a lot of different ways to get stimulus for the quarterback and with a veteran guy, like Brad Johnson, with five preseason games, you might want to rest Jim in the afternoon or rest Brad in the morning to keep them fresh (in training camp). "One of the reasons we've attacked that position since we've been here is that we know things can happen. My first year in Oakland, we won a game with three different quarterbacks. Last year, you know Rob (Johnson) was the first quarterback to ever win a game in cold (under 40 degrees) weather. Shaun had a rough start in Week 15 against the Steelers. He had been inactive for two years. I really think repetition is the mother of learning, man, especially in this offense. ... We'll see what happens. But we feel like if Jim comes back to health, and we tune Chris Simms up a little bit, we think we're going to have four guys who can flip the ball around."
Of course, its impossible to know which future cuts from other teams the Jets will eventually sign. Its highly likely there will be at least one or two...
