Herm just named us the team to beat in the AFC next year.

    i hate you herm!

he said we need another wr and that cotchery should move inside and play the slot. i'm not so sure about that one.

it's also pretty early to be calling this team favorites next year. we only have 2 guys in the secondary right now so a lot of what we can do next year is gonna be dependent on how we deal with the turnover in the secondary.

One of the best decisions we ever made was trading that quote machine for Leon Washington.

I think once the season comes around everyone will be talking Indy, San Diego, New England, Pittsburgh and probably Houston. We'll be forgotten.

Cotchery in the slot??!!?? This guy was a head coach? Cotchery is a classic 2 in this league.

why can't we be the team to beat?everyone here agrees injuries killed us against the colts.sanchez is gonna be better.if he cuts his ints by 25% this is a 11-12 win team.the defense is gonna be better with jenkins and a better cb.(hopefully)so yeah why not?

i don't think cotch is a good slot wr though.i'd rather have someone a little shiftier.i'd like to see leon in the slot some if we don't add a wr.

I don't think so. We made it to the Championship Game. As if Ryan's mouth doesn't put us out there in the 1st place (which I don't mind one bit) making it to the Title game pretty much guarantees we're not floating under the radar next year.

Herman Edwards refused to give more than a handful of reps to Jerricho Cotchery - his opinion doesn't matter on Jerricho Cotchery.

Herman Edwards said that the Bills would beat the Saints in 2009, not for any real football reason, but just because the 'they're due'. I caught his 'predictions' before a number of games this year, for sheer entertainment purposes, and the guy didn't seem like he had watched more game tape than the Bermanized Sportscenter highlights every Monday morning. His opinion about football is totally negligible. Not because he isn't qualified to break it down (although I bet there are plenty here that would make that case), but because he doesn't care enough to break it down.

Herman Edwards is a 'color personality' when it comes to football. He is the furthest thing from an analyst. Rex Ryan went deeper into the playoffs in his rookie HC season than Herm did in his entire career as an NFL HC - as far as I am concerned, Herman Edwards in not qualified to and has no business giving advice to a guy like Rex, and his predictions should be taken for meandering entertainment only.

This can be placed in the same file as the Gary Myers thread.

Believe it or not, I agree with Herm on the Cotchery subject...

Herm probably did not mean it this way... But I think we should use Cotch the way the Pats use Welker... Not exactly mind you because they are entirely different players.

But Welker is a starter who lines up wide in 2 WR sets, and is probably 85% of the time in the slot when they are 3 wr sets.

That allows him to torch the nickle corner on a regular basis and compile stats like no one else in the league.

Is there any doubt that J-co could do that to Nickle Cb's?

But we can't do it if we don't have somebody else capable that can line up outside...

How do you figure we only have 2 guys in our secondary right now?

    We can always pray.

We need to play the underdog card for at least 1 more year I think.

Then when we win the SB next year and take a year off for the lockout, we'll be primed for a let down.

I hate this pending lock out!!

fuckin jets fans.....i swear. never happy and always somethign to complain about

people give us credit, and we call them a fuckin idiot. people bash us or dont' give us credit, and they don't know what the fuck they're talking about.

    unbelievable.

i don't understand all the hatred for Herm anyways. We made the playoffs twice with him and 1 year we didn't we lost our 1st and 2nd string QB's within 20 minutes of each other.

That said, i don't understand the hatred for mangini also. guy as responsible for a large part of what we had in place right now, not to mention the trades he made with us. I GUARANTEE you if he was not in cleveland, Braylon nor sanchez would be here right now.

Like I've said before, after being on this board for awhile I can understand why most people say jets fans are obnoxious. I used to have to defend myself all the time (especially living in south florida) but reading shit like that pisses me off.

where in that post did I say I absolutely agree with his assessment? Nowhere.

My point is simple. No need to call him a "fuckin idiot" because he likes our teams chances next year. my point stands, no matter what is said we never seem to be happy. so much abrasion for no reason

We really need to drop this superstitious shit. It starts to drive all of us crazy.

the team has a new swagger. listen to what people inside the organization has to say and not ESPN analysts.

Where in this thread does anyone say Herm is a fuckin idiot because he likes our chances? It doesn't.

So far as I can tell there are plenty of good reasons to call Herm a fuckin idiot, but no where in this thread does anyone say that he's an idiot for liking the Jets chances next year.

Tennessee will be back as well, not to mention the other team Indy knocked out of the playoffs...

I just declared the Jets to be 16-0 next year-

Finishing the season at 19-0 after beating the Packers.
