So draft-nicks, if we didn't get Sanchez last draft, is there a QB thats more highly ranked that Sanchez was at the same point in this years draft? Whilst I know that trading up to nab Sanchez was absolutely the right idea, I'm curious to see who we might have had instead..? Yes this another inane off season thread
iv loved colt mccoy his whole time at texas and would of loved to see him playing on our team. but i think sanchez is better
Sanchez is definitely a much better prospect than McCoy. I think he's comparable to Bradford/Clausen, but if they were all in the draft rated I definitely think Sanchez would've been ranked higher than those two guys.
well pre draft last year, they believed bradford would go #1 overall so that would mean pre-injury he would have been higher than mark.
McCoy isn't a NFL ready QB. Don't let the numbers fool you. Clausen is the only guy who could step on a team with this amount of talent and be ready to go immediately.
I thought we were going to take Maclin last year. We wouldn't have traded picks and we wouldn't have gone after Edwards, so we'd have maneuverability to get Clausen or Bradford this year, whomever falls. Of course, we'd probably be picking early enough to draft either of them if we hadn't gone after the Sanchize.
if bradford came out last year we would've probably ended up with sanchez, just without trading up to get him.
I am absolutely perplexed why people think clausen will be a good qb?!?!? The dude is a prima donna with above avg talent at best, he couldn't even make it rain in a pro style offense at ND, he was good, but not great, not nearly as good as brady quinn was in college, and how did he pan out? this years qb class is the worst in years.. we should be thankful we got sanchez, he will be way better then any of the chumps coming out this year, honestly the only qb this year who has a chance to be a star is jarrett brown bc he is big, strong, HUGE ARM, and he has a good work ethic, the man is a project but id rther take a chance on him then any of the other clowns coming out
Because Clausen is the most NFL Ready QB coming out in this draft. That's why. Something called footwork too. That's what makes Sanchez such a good QB - his amazing footwork. Bradford is up there, but his arm injury is a bigger red flag that Clausens problems. Couldn't even make it rain? With what OL protecting him for his first 2 years? "Make it rain" isn't a prerequisite for a QB in college. Jarrett Brown is a project. I'd rather you pick Dan LeFevour if we are going by QBs who looked good in the Senior Bowl. Brown is still working on taking snaps from under center. He's no Joe Flacco.
i personally would rather have Sanchez than any other QBs this year...i wouldnt even mind drafting Tim Tebow to play Safety/wildcat...but thats another story for another day
I think the two QBs last year are much better prospects then the two QBs this year. I couldn't understand the argument against Sanchez before last draft that there would be better QBs this year. If Sanchez stayed in school and cam out this year he would be the top rated QB and most likely the top pick in the draft. We got extremely lucky last year.
I'd rather have Sanchez than any of the guys coming out last season or this. I'd probably have preferred Bradford last season if he came out but I doubt I'd have wanted him over Sanchez in this draft if Sanchez stayed for his senior season at USC. The last laugh in the Pete Carroll/Mark Sanchez saga was Carroll leaving USC after a subpar season in which his QBs were the main problem, the likelihood of which is what caused his outburst when Sanchez left early.
I think what you guys have to consider is also for how little we traded up last year... it's difficult to get a great QB prospect like Sanchez for a 2nd, Elam, Coleman and Ratliff...
Seems like daylight robbery now, but I remember draft day last season, and there were plenty saying that we gave up too much. Still like to see what Ratty could do with a decent team though. KC for Rattliffe?
