How far does Tebow have to drop for him to become a value pick for Jets

I know we have our franchise QB but Tebow is an exceptional talent and would add a fantastic dimension to any offense in my opinion. The variety of play calls that could be added to the offense would be mind boggling.

I know there is a lot of hate for him in general and his throwing action will put many off but if we traded down to pick up an early 2nd and 4th and he is there at our 2nd 2nd round pick would he not be value? He could run the option far better than B Smith and is also big enough to play as a back. He is a great athlete and would give us so many options.

Sorry if this is a bit ill informed but from the reading and watching I have done he just looks like a plain winner wherever you line him up. I will gladly take criticism guys but cut me some slack if I am way out of line!!

    6th or 7th round

He is not explosive enough to run away from NFL defenders like in college

to put aside how much i cant stand the guy we really dont have any need for him even if he falls to a 6th or 7th pick(which will never happen. he will have a great combine and be a 1st round pick where some team gets screwed after drafting him). i just see him as a waste of a pick.

if he is sitting there in the 5th round then I would consider taking him as a GM, but he just doesn't fit here in NY. Plus he would provide a distraction. Not by choice but the media would follow him around like he was our first round pick in NY, and Tebow is definately a guy that needs to be able to put his head down and work his ass off to be able to make some kind of an impact. He just wouldn't be able to do it constantly being hounded by the media.

    1. I agree with Mayock (as almost always)... give this kid 2 years and he'll become a solid QB in this league.

    2. We don't need a QB to groom... I actually think if Tebow is there in the middle of the second round the Patriots should pick him up and groom him for the future. That's the destination that would make most sense. I think he could become a beast learning for 2/3 years behind Brady.

No, it's not a joke. For the Jets and our specific needs, there's just no room to waste a draft pick on an experimental quarterback/H-back. We can pick up a needed slot receiver in the 4th or 5th rounds, hell, even a punter or FB in the 6th or 7th round would be more valuable than Tim Tebow for us.

I agree about what you said about Jacksonville taking him, but the question was how far does he fall before he's a value pick for us.

EDIT: Of course, this is all just my opinion... feel free to debate back.

ok then...... I thought you meant he'll go undrafted

That being said, while they have MUCH bigger needs I'd have no problem with the JETS selecting him the 2nd half / later rounds of the draft.

Oh no way, I would have to be semi-retarded to suggest Tebow would go undrafted.

I still don't see how you would not mind picking up Tebow, there's no purpose for him on the team :/.

Well, mostly because I don't see him translating to the NFL as a traditional QB, but as a versatile football player. Like I said, there are bigger needs to fill, but he's an athlete and a proven winner with heart. He'll find a role with a team somewhere.

For the Jets to take any QB with any pick is a complete waste. There are so many young QBs on the roster already. Why take a flawed college QB who can't take a snap from center and has the slowest delivery in the history of the sport? The answer to the OP's question is that Tebow would have to come here as an undrafted FA to play another position, which is unlikely. Tebow has about as much chance of being a Jet next year as I do.

Tebow isn't a value pick for the Jets.

There is a thread that lists tons of draft websites. If you are able to view them, read up on what is going on with teams and players.

If Tebow wants to learn how to be a blocking TE or an H-Back for the Jets then they can pick him up as a UDFA. For any pick to be wasted on him would get Tanny fired. I don't care what he brings to the table in terms of intangibles.

Agreed. Tebow will be a starting QB in the NFL. And we already have one of those guys.

Exactly what I was going for. Tebow can be an expirment for another team, we have Mark as our leader and QB.

He could be a nice replacement for Tony Richardson. I say 7th round.

So could a guy who has actually had game-time experience and played his entire collegiate career at full back. I would rather pick up someone who has played full back before than an ex-QB who will probably be pouting about not being given a chance to play QB.
