I don't know why you are all jumping down his throat...he's just bringing up a possibility and some discussion a month and a week away from the draft...I wouldn't be a big fan either but it's something to discuss.
+1 I think many saw TE, Jets, and #29 and jumped on the opportunity to shoot it down.. But it's just a way to open new possibilities. It's not a "we need to draft a TE" thread. Obviously it would require the a 2-TE set as the primary offense so Gresham/Keller wouldn't be sitting on the bench. But yes, just some pre-draft discussion about a different approach. I was thinking of Johnny Mitchell and Kyle Brady in 93' and 95' actually even though we all know how that ended up.
I take Cody, the NT of the future for us. And then I wait as Mike T loads his contract up with incentives just like Jenkins to stay under weight for bonus money. Then I watch him get double teamed and this defense plays great still but I wouldn't mind Gresham, as long as his knee checks out.
I don't know, I guess I just mean that I don't act all uptight and shit in real life, this is the internet and it's fun to be real critical and act like an asshole sometimes...
Good to know. You've certainly earned the right to be condescending after the row with jtrain and the knowledge you've brought to the board. You just seem to pop up when someone gets attacked like a white knight
Haha, thanks, I haven't even realized it if I do act like a "white knight" ever....I actually feel like I usually act like a dick here. I just agreed with the OP (JetFanInPA) in that this topic wasn't as ridiculous as people were making it out to be.
While I agree with you on TE, its very possible that those guys are gone by 29. Here is a quick run to 29 that matches team needs and has every one on his list, as well as Matthews, Gresham and Terrence Cody going before we pick. Don't think I'm missing anyone major and this would suck about as hard as the first round could for the Jets. 1- SLT, Bradford 2- DET, Suh 3- TBY, McCoy 4- WSH, Clausen 5- KC, Okung 6- SEA, Bulaga 7- CLE, Berry 8- OK, Campbell 9- BUF, Trent Williams 10- JAX, Derrick Morgan 11- DEN, Bryant 12- MIA, Dan Williams 13- SF, Haden 14- SEA, Spiller 15- NYG, McClain 16- TEN, Brandon Graham 17- SF, Ryan Matthews 18- PIT, Kyle Wilson 19- ATL, JPP 20- HOU, Earl Thomas 21- CIN, Golden Tate 22- NE, Jared Odrick 23- GB, Iupati 24- PHI, Sergio Kindle 25- BLT, Gresham 26- AZ, McCourty 27- DAL, Taylor Mays 28- SD, Cody
If Anthony Davis is sitting there when we pick, I'd imagine we'll be fielding our share of offers to trade back. Looks like a win to me. I don't see him falling that far. Ditto for Everson Griffen. I love the idea of trading back.
This is what the thread is about... What if all the top guys are gone... Obviously a trade down is ideal and with Anthony Davis on the board it's possible... However, in this case I'd throw the following names out there... - Maukrice Pouncey OG/C - Anthony Davis OT - Alex Carrington DE - Cam Thomas NT - Eversen Griffen OLB/DE - Jerry Hughes OLB/DE - Nate Allen S I'd be very open to reaching for Carrington here if there's no trade down in sight..
See, this would have made a much better thread. Those guys are for the most part definite possibilities. In that situation, I'd obviously feel trading back would be our best option, but the options are interesting to consider. Griffen would definitely deserve a look if we really feel he can succeed in the 3-4.
New England has no TE at present on their roster, and they have picked the position before in the first round. There is a good chance he's their pick, unless they plan on using one of their second rounders on the position.Taking Anthony Davis for ourselves wouldn't be a bad choice. Arrelious Benn or Jerry Hughes also might be the pick in this secario.
I would love to get Griffen. If they're going to take a chance on a kid that's never had experience dropping to play LB, then why not go with the one with the most physical potential. He's an absolute monster of a person, and a great athlete. I might actually ask him to cut down his weight a little bit, not because there's any fat on his body, just because he doesn't need to be that big. And if there's any question about him coming from the USteroidC, his biceps say it all: http://dailytrojan.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/everson-for-josh-story-620-320.jpg (linked because the photo is so massive)
there is only one move at the #29 spot, that is to trade up a little bit and get cody to play d-end for us , then when jenks' time is up here then we move cody to d-tackle, there is no other way to go about it, if u think u have a better answer then ur obviously wrong
