Tannenbaum - Leon to be 100% by preseason / Sanchez rehab Tannenbaum upgraded his expectations for Washington's return from the broken leg, saying he believes he'll be 100 percent by preseason. Recently, Tannenbaum had said he expected Washington to be ready for the regular-season opener. . . . He also called Mark Sanchez a "football junkie," saying the quarterback has been spending about eight hours a day at the facility rehabbing his right knee and studying with coaches. What did you expect him to say? LW has less value (not worth a 2nd rd pick) if he's less than 100%. If it's certain that LT is a Jet than Tanny would prefer a 2nd rd pick that LW. Mayhap he picks a RB in the 4th.
Hopefully Leon is close enough to 100% healthy by the last day someone can bid on his 2nd round tender before the draft.
Of course he does, they want a 2nd round pick for him. He's not going to say Leon is anything less than 100%
Whew what a relief LW is going to be 100% 1400 yards this year ftw....... We all know what Tannenbaum says in public is gospel.
Tannenbaum is definitely a weasel but a damn good businessman. He's perfect for a team like the Jets.
i think tanny saying this means if someone trys to take leon we will match the offer. Also I love to hear that about Mark. The great QB's are geniouses when it comes to the game and thats what is needed to make that step from good to great. Colts players always talk about how much time Manning spends looking at film and studying football.
none of us are gonna have any clue how leon has recovered until we see him in game action. he might very well be 100% healed by the time training camp starts but the chances of him being back to the same player he was are looking pretty slim.
the broken leg? sure the leg will be healed but to expect he will be the same guy he was after an injury like that, especially in less than a year is unrealistic IMO. i know leon is doing much more rehab than the average joe would but i have seen enough people i know suffer injuries less serious than that and have nagging problems for years. i just don't see how leon is gonna be the same player he was before the injury.
You seem to be speaking in the permanent sense. I could see how there is a decent chance that he will not be the same out of the gate, but even if it takes an extra year; I think he has a good chance to completely recover. This is based on the fact that the injuries were to the bones and not joints, ligaments, tendons, or major nerves. Not knowing the extent of the injury beyond a double compound fracture, we are only guessing to be sure. But if the injury was truly just fractures of broad bone, he really does have a good chance to get back to form.
oh yeah eventually he can be back to what he was but this might be his last year with the jets so i'm not really concerned with what he might be able to do in 2 years. next year i think he can be solid for us but i don't see him being the game breaker we have come know him as unless he is a miraculous healer.
I agree. Nothing has ever been said about anything but compound fractures. They heal. And much better than sprains, tears and torn this and that. Still, as one poster puts it, it bothers me that Tannenbaum is announcing this publicly... almost daring somebody to step up. Does he know something about Leon's injury that most others don't know or are keeping secret?
Whoever is interrested in Leon. Im sure will contact a dr. So what ever you think Mike T would be trying to hide wouldnt work . Come on now.
