brandon marshall drops his share of passes also.... elias stats from 2008 (edwards' infamous drops year) http://espn.go.com/blog/afcsouth/post/_/id/2151/what-kind-of-pass-is-jags-lewis-likely-to-drop also edwards' best year was better than marshall's. just sayin......edwards has plenty of talent and all receivers drop passes.
So He should be Banned for this? I just think whether if it's pointless or not give the guy a break. To me it looks like he trying to start up a topic. Overall he's not harming anyone. He's not insulting anyone
I think Braylon will be a lot better this year after working in the system for another year and building a better raport with Mark... eveyone drops ball once in awhile and it something that can easily be fixed .. It has to be a concentration thing since when he doesn't have time to think during insane catches he always makes them and he misses the easy ones... Holmes, Edwards and Cotchery are going to be tough for people to stop this year...not to mention Keller and LT...
just a temporary ban, just to give joeyd a message that we don't want to sift through a bunch of crap to find good posts. the reasoning behind this is that i've seen a lot of joeyd's posts lately and they've been crap, both with grammar and spelling, long without paragraphs, and don't focus on one topic but bounce around to a million things, most that don't even make sense. it's not like i'm an english teacher but its annoying and most of you don't seem to have this problem.
OK, enough of this crap. I'm tempted to start utilizing the cesspool in the offseason, which is something I was not planning on doing. To everyone, please put thought into a thread before you create one. This one is clearly all over the place and IMO is just another wasted slot on the NYJ forum front page. Time to start cleaning this forum up, especially before the draft hits and all hell breaks loose.
So, you are going to decide what is worthy of being posted and what isn't? I thought the whole point of open forums was that the board members kept threads alive, deciding what was worthy of discussion and what wasn't. The OP for this thread may be all over the place, and I agree that people need to put a bit more thought into the concept of whatever thread they are starting, but it's no reason to begin wholesale censorship.
No, that's why this thread is still open and alive. But if people are going to jump all over a thread, its either going to be closed or cesspooled. It just isn't adding much value to the forum right now. However, if there is absolutely no original thought or question posed to provoke discussion though, that is a different story. Hence the point of putting more thought into threads.
I was just thinking the same thing. He dropped a horrible pass in the Bills Toronto game and I remember a terrible drop in the Cincy playoff game. We won both of those games. Trying to think of others of note. It seems with Braylon that it's a concentration thing. When he's in traffic he seems to do fine, but when he has time to run down the field and think about it, he doesn't. He also joined a new team 3 weeks into the season, new QB etc. Of course that's a weak excuse as he dropped balls in Cleveland too.
Anything that provokes discussion, I'm willing to permit. Even if the original poster makes himself look like an idiot the way he writes. He should get a quick public lashing (nothing too over the top/banworthy) for his grammar, then people can discuss the content in them. If there's nothing to discuss, let the thread die. If the thread is so beyond ridiculous and stupid that there is absolutely no hope for humanity reading it, which happens probably twice a day during the season, then it gets cesspooled. Or if the responses get too out of hand and there's no saving it. But next week, the cess pool and the merge police will be back in full force during the draft, no question about it. As for this thread, Braylon will always drop a few balls. He's just got to be more consistent with the easy ones. Hopefully, playing for a new contract, he'll be more focused. Same with Santonio, though he's never had too many problems ON the field. Marshall drops a lot of passes, too. But he's also a physical weapon who can make tough catches others can't. That's what Braylon needs to do. He does it from time to time, and I feel like he doesn't have the strongest hands catching the ball in traffic either.
I think English might be his second language. Anyway, I do like how Edwards is a really good blocker. Helps our running game.
What was the QB situation in Cleveland? Maybe he needs time to develop a good relationship with a QB and jell? The drops are definitely a confidence thing and that is in his head - maybe consistent long term catches with a good QB would help with that.
Almost made it... Edwards will always have issues with drops throughout his career I believe. Will he improve over time? Absolutely. He didn't drop a lot of passes last year, they were just magnified because of the timing. Our receiving core definitely has the potential one of the best in the league. Cotchery and Austin are two totally different styles of WR We need to get younger on both sides of the line. Puoha did a great job, but he is older than Jenkins (props to E for that tid bit) You still need work on your threads.
