I am glad we switch to Vinny that season. Once the change to Vinny happened, they Jets rolled that season, until the AFC Championship game. :jets:
2004 was gut-wrenching, but I was more disappointed after our loss to Denver in 1998. We would have destroyed the Falcons.
I don't think we would have but the trench matchup would have been outstanding. The Hogs vs. The Sack Exchange. I agree about 2004. No way we beat the Pats in Foxboro
Absolutely. Worst gut check overall for me was probably 98. I didn't start watching them until the late 80s, so I missed the first two. 1998 was such a gut check because our hopes got built up in the first half and into the 3rd quarter. Parts of that 2nd half were just so bizarre with the wind playing tricks on the ball, too. I couldn't believe what was happening, even though I had thought going in that Denver was going to win.
Yeah, we already had that season, although that was with Graziano or Graziani in the game. The old Oregon QB. It would have been a different game in the Super Bowl, but I have no doubt we would have won and won big.
98 was the worst. 10-0 going into halftime. Swore that day if I ever saw John Elway on the street I would shiv him. God this thread is depressing.
I think you're right. I had forgotten about DeBerg in that game. What a crazy season. We caught our first glimpse of how good the Rams could be, too. If you had told me we'd reach the AFCCG after that Rams game, I'd never have believed you. Of course, they were Super Bowl bound the next season.
Chad scored a TD at Miami in december to clinch that game, Curtis scored our only TD after Blake Spence blocked a punt and set us up at the Den 1.
Yeah can't forget about the TOs, those God damn fumbles ... But Davis gashed us for 163 Yards that game though, including his score that put the Broncos up by 2 scores, if we could of stopped the run we would of had way more possesions with the ball, but we prob would of kept turning it over with the way that game was going ... I was pretty young at the time (12 years old) but I cried after the game was over because after we were up 10-0, it was like God did not want us to win that game, and wanted fucking Elway to get his time in the sun ... IMO that was the most opportune moment to win a SB Just thinking about it is depressing, Doug O' Brien was bad but this was 10x worse
'86 CLE game was definitely the biggest, most crushing loss for me, followed by the '98 DEN game. Actually, that CLE game was the closest I've ever came to crying about a loss. I couldn't believe it. Let's Go Jets!!!
I thought the Jets went in with the lead at halftime as well. Man, I must of been drunk for that game... Biggest gut check was watching Gastineau late hit on Kosar... Then losing in OT... Ugh
nice to hear 4 guys in that game still in the nfl jason furgeson-----james farrior----kevin mawae----terrell owens
The Jets were leading at the half but it was 3-0 not 10-0. Hall hit a FG as time I expired in the first half(I'm pretty sure it was as the first half expired).
