The only thing that game proved to me is that Coleman is trash.

Ugh, don't remind me. If he didn't mistime that jump there would have been no comeback for Peyton, even with Greene going down and TJ being useless.

For the folks still claiming Lowery would be a good #2, look no further than the jets offseason to see how much the FO disagrees. there's nothing wrong with being a good nickel or great dime back in the NFL. that's what lowery is, he's not a #2.

agreed, I feel like lowery will be the new ray mickens. in mickens case if he was a little taller and could subsequently handle the big time receivers he would have been a top corner in the league. In Lowery's case, its his speed that keeps him from being able to handle the best cbs in the league. But what he is able to do is be a great #3 and #4 cb.

The knock on Lowery from the day he was drafted was that he didn't have the elite speed to cover NFL wideouts man to man and that he was abit stiff in the hips in transition. I've always said Lowery's best starting position would be free safety where his lack of elite speed wouldn't haunt him as it does on the corner.

Lowery's skill sets have always been as a ball hawk who plays best reacting to situations and not necessarily in man to man.

Of course in fairness Clark on most teams would be a #2 receiver.

Yeah no way Lowery ends up in man against Clark in this package. Revis gets Whayne, Cro gets Clark, Wilson gets Garcon, and Collie gets tag-teamed by Lowery and safety help over top.
Oh and by the time Peyton gets to the 4th read Bart has put him on his ass.

Keep in mind this secondary - and to some degree entire offseason - was built around the Colts loss, not only because they're the obvious hurdle, but because I think Peyton is the one guy that keeps Rex awake at night, and has for much of his coaching career.

And like someone said before, Lowery could be a #2 for somebody else, so if they were really that disapointed in him and didn't see a role for him he'd probably be gone.

Rex did mention that training camp will have some "great competition at cornerback." Hmm...maybe Lowery doesn't have a slot locked up anyway.

1 on 1? nope. being on the inside he will have help from linebackers/safties which is why i said his screwups won't have as much of an impact.

Besides the fact that Rex asks a lot of his CB's....

I bet Lowery would be a decent #2 starting CB in San Diego where they play zone.

I'm a fan of Lowery and that comes from knowing that a player is smart and giving 110% and laying it out on the field - Maybe he's not the most talented but, Lowery is one of the good guys that won't fail due to lack of work - He's no Kerry Rhodes - He's here to do the best he can at whataver is asked of him.

Lowery has a great skill-set but he gets in a little bit of trouble because of his speed. He covers very well over the middle of the field in zone coverage. He gets in trouble when he's covering a speedy WR on the sideline.

only way lowery could be a two is in a cover 2 system. i think he'd be a beast in that type of D, but he doesnt have the physical skill set to be a top man corner

hes a ballhawk tho, i hope he gets some FS looks this season

1 thing is for sure...In Madden I start Lowery over Lito. Lowery does a way better job in the game of coarse. Lito stinks in the game, no awareness at all

I agree that this secondary was put together w. IND in mind. And we are much more prepaired to face them, and any other spread offense coming into this season.

That's not to say we will totally shut Them down, but their big plays will be directly due to Manning, not Lowery.

If your goal is to win a superbowl and you play in the AFC, it is very likely that you will have to go through Peyton Manning to accomplish that goal.

Our FO and 2 different coaching staffs have tried to find upgrades over Lowery at CB#2 every year he's been a Jet. His rookie season we got 95 year old Ty Law midway through the year when it became obvious we needed to upgrade. Last year we got an aging former pro-bowler who hasn't been able to stay healthy in years. This year we went out and traded for one CB and drafted another. To say the only reason Lowery is being replaced is the Colts loss goes against what has actually happened since he's been here.

That said, I think Lowery was a good pick. He can be a solid nickel for us and a very good dime for us. Those are important positions in todays NFL and I'm glad we have a guy that can do well in those spots.

Agreed, but I think the plan was for Lowery to be the #3 corner...I don't think they were expecting Kyle Wilson to be there at 29

Which would have been fine. The fact that he'll likely be #4 is very good news for our secondary.
