Just had to laugh at this, first off I thought it was a tongue in cheek piece and read on .... The last piece of this sums things up nicely
The league has an image. They want to keep it clean. Rex seems to be making that difficult. I'm glad he is.
Goodell is screwing up the league all on his own, its people like Ryan that should be running it, not bleeding heart Liberals like 'Ol Roger.
I'm not even sure what you meant by this. In any event Goodell is the son of former Senator Charles Goodell, a Republican.
The leauge may have an image - but it is far from clean. The league allows pretty much anybody to play including dog killers, wife beaters, drug addicts, gamblers and pretty much anybody else. The notion that goddell s/b concerned about some f-bombs - which nearly every coach uses - while he is preparing to cut rothlisberger some slack on his second sex assault incident - is pretty hypocritical. The NFL's image is far from clean and btw - its never been clean.
To be honest, I like to swear. BUT... I find the less I do, the more powerful it is when I get it out of the arsenal and fire a shot. Rex does curse too much. So do most comedians. So fuckin what.
who donated money to the campaigns of George W Bush in 2003 and John McCain in 2008, and to Dan Coats two months ago (the Republican Senator nominee from Indiana who is endorsed by the National Right-to-Life Committee). Roger apparently needs some bleeding heart liberal re-education.
Could Billick be any more of a hypocrite? I think not. He curses on camera and then he argues that Rex is wrong for doing t he same thing?
For Brits we tend to understand the term "bleeding heart liberal" (as used in your many fine TV imports we enjoy) to just mean someone who is a bit of a wimp/wet rather than it having any political meaning.
Roger did? A quick google search tells me he's also given plenty of money to Dem campaigns. His contributions to political parties are a little beside the point, and in any case, I was referring to his old man.
I will give Billick this (and maybe it was only for the camera) but out of all seasons of Hard Knocks, he was the best guy at cutting players. The Jets are close....
That's the point - there is no evidence anywhere about Roger's political beliefs, and supporting a candidate who wants abortion banned is hardly the characteristic of a bleeding heart liberal. If Gus was referring to being a wimp that's another thing altogether, although I would hardly call someone who runs roughshod over the rights of his employees a wimp.
It's like the Jets get caught spying with cameras and Bill Belichick looks right into an ESPN camera and says "you ought not to film certain things" Personally with Billick though, i don't think Goodell has anything to do with this one. I think its Billick just trying to do what he thinks is the right thing for the game and prob as a former head coach he doesnt want to be looked at or grouped in with Rex's style.
