Patriots released him today. As a rush OLB in a 3-4, without Pace, he could be a better option than Adalius Thomas and give us some Patriot insight. He had 5 sacks last season and started 6 games. He's not great, but he could be a short-term option. http://sports.espn.go.com/boston/nfl/news/story?id=5532595&campaign=rss&source=NFLHeadlines Per Mike Reiss
I saw that. I'm sure the Jets will at least do due diligence, but any idea why he was cut? Looks like it's possible it was a butting of heads issue. I didn't realize he failed to report to training camp.
Do the pats have any legitimate pass rushers this year? Banta-Cain does very well in that system, but do they have anyone who truly impresses opposing offenses? Where is Pierre Woods?
The Pats cut Woods. They like Ninkovich to maybe develop into a Vrabel type OLB. Burgess was considering retiring and played like it against the Giants. I think Jarvis green will be going back to the Pats now that he was dropped by the Broncos.
Murrell started just the 1st preseason game. He's played a little with the backups since. Mostly special teams.
That wasn't according to me, just according to the article I posted. I don't have any Patriots sources
Came in out of shape and was made to sit out a couple of weeks. Played ok against the Giants. Probably why they dropped Damione Lewis.
If he was considering retirement im not sure if I can see him taking a job where he knows theres a real chance he would get cut a few weeks into the season.
Big surprise there! Matthew Slater gets the special teams spot over him, per Reiss. Aiken can help some team. Looks like they are sweeping out alot of the special team regulars (Alexander, Woods, and Aiken)
Brace is in much better shape now and is playing really well at end. Pats fans are saying he's had a really good preseason
It has always been my opinion that players /coaches that waiver and retire then unretire just do not have the heart any longer. I just can't stand picking up players that have to be coaxed or kicked in the ass to unretire and play. Now of course there are exceptions to this rule and that involves all time great players. I don't think anyone would confuse Burgess with one of those.
This has nothing to do with the Jets. Stop posting this garbage! Burgess was a target all game last week against the run.
