Was considering making the trip to Pittsburgh in December. Has anyone been here before. If so how is stadium and city? Have never taken road trip yet to another stadium so this would the first. Would appreciate any input, thanks.

I suggest driving out to Pittsburgh one weekend in October to get a feel for the city. Then there will be no surprises come December.

When I was in college I visited some friends in Morgantown in December which is about 45 min from there. I know how the weather can be that time of year. Looks like one of the nicer stadiums in the NFL IMO.

Pittsburgh is a nice city. Just don't expect any nightlife downtown. Things shut down real early. There is a seafood restaurant there called the Monterey Bay Fish Grotto that is one of my favorite restaurants anywhere.

Yeah, you are right. We barely play them. 07 Clemens beat them in OT at home and I think thats the only game since the playoff game that the Jets played Pittsburgh. Right?

How are the fans here? Anything like Philadelphia. I expect its gonna be a rough crowd. I've been to Philly before (for Mets game) almost wound up in a fight I didn't cause.

I'll be there. The only thing you need to know about Pittsburgh is that it's cold. And the fans can be a bit rowdy at times but nothing like Philly fans.

I used to spend every Easter and Thanksgiving in Pittsburgh until I was about 16. It's a great, blue collar city. You'll have a good time out there, but they take their Steelers seriously out there. Expect to get a lot of shit in the parking log and stadium.

Thanks for the info guys. Should be a good trip. My girlfriend has a friend who lives out there so I won't have to worry about a hotel atleast.

fans in pittsburgh shouldn't be a problem, its a great city, very classy yet blue collar, modern day industrialized...Philly is a shithole, hence why their fan demographic consists of whitetrash losers and gangster wannabes

    Pittsburg is a great city.

Steeler fans will be fine, you'll get alot of verbal ribbing, but nothing that would make you feel threatened. Don't expect to see alot of Jet fans...compared to Miami, Buffalo, even Philly.

If you're going to be in Pittsburg for more than a day, go to Tessaro's, they have the best 1/2 pound burger. It's a Restaurant/Bar on the east side of Pittsburg (little Italy), nothing fancy but nice atmosphere..it gets crowded.

Well in addition to being a jets fan, I am also a die hard pittsburgh penguins fan. I have been out to the Burgh more then just a few times and i must say it is an awesome city. As others have suggested do not expect much in the way of night life but on the other hand there is plenty to do there. Definitely reccomend checking out the strip district, great shopping and great vendor style food.
Also, check out Primanti bros for a great sandwich, been featured on travel channel and food network, and is a Pittsburgh staple.
The city is very clean as others have said, you would not feel unsafe walking around the town, just don't stray into some of the worse areas(over the river and up the hill), though im sure that wouldnt be a problem. The city is very blue collar but modern and not trashy.
As far as the fans go, being "in" with the Pittsburgh crowd I can say that we are loud and boistrous, however noone would start a fight with you like Philly fans would. Expect verbal taunts in the parking lot and around town if you are rocking jets gear, but also, the same people jabbing at you will be the same ones to sit down at the bar with you, offer you a drink and shoot the shit with you.

    Enjoy
