This is a guy I have been EXTREMELY excited about ever since that game against Miami last season. There were certain plays where he looked like a beast.

What are your feelings on Ced?

Do you think he has starting potential?

Or is he just a good change of pace?

I honestly hope he becomes our starter by mid year...

I honestly think he will split carries with Martin all year...

I think in the long haul, Cedric Houston could be an awesome back especially with our newly upgraded Oline.

So choose one of the options and speak up on how you think he will do this season.

    I will say 500 yards and 5 TD's

You should have a selection in the poll for "unsure/haven't seen enough to judge."

In the limited action we saw last year, behind a pourous offensive line, he did very well, moved the pile and had strong YPC. Based upon those limited flashes, I very much like what I saw. However, you really need to have a guy see meaningful PT before you can say with some certainty as to whether he's a stinker or a gem.

Chumpjets is just spewing nonsense with no concrete facts to back it up.

The sands of time will show you are just as incorrect about him as you were about Herm. I have you rated in my book as a SLW when it comes to evulating the NYJs or FB. Congrats on being bestowed with my lowest rating

From what I saw last season, yes he can be a starter. The only question marks in my mind are durability and the ability to carry the full workload over the span of an entire season.

he hasnt gotten enough carries for us to legitimately expect anything from him IMO. he looks decent though, but with his body size his ability to drive tacklers back should be a given, its not like hes a human plow though.

im giving a pass for the whole offense due to the line last year. new offense, new OL, new staff. we'll see

i just havent seen enough to make a decision, as of now he looks like a very solid change of pace back.

We will have a RB committee this year. Its the trend in the nfl. So it doesnt matter who the starter is. I think he can be a great #2 in a committee and maybe #1. But I dont think he can be a starter by himself.

People seem to expect him to be a big contributor to the Jets as a second back who gets a lot of carries or even a future starter. I honestly didn't see much from him at all last season, but I don't blame him for that because he was playing on an awful offensive unit. I never saw much from him in college either, so I find it hard to believe that he will be a major NFL contributor.

Penny, I don't see why you hope that Houston is starting by the middle of next season. I hope that Martin is back to his old form, because that would be much better for the team.

He's saying that he has hope because after having watched the games in great detail, he saw that even in limited action, Houston was making the plays, really good plays in fact, and moving the pile/showing some good speed, not great, things we haven't seen from Martin in many, years.

I think that at this point you have to take Martin for what he is- a future first-ballot HOF running back, about to ride into the sunset on what has been a great career. I don't expect anything big from Martin this year, maybe 5/6 rushing TD's and 500 yards, MAX. Thanks for the memories Curt, but I don't see you as our everydown player anymore.

I dont think he will get that many carries because Blaylock is better because he has more knowledge of the game.

This year i think this is how many yards all the Jets runningbacks will get

    Martin: 1100
    Blaylock: 900
    Houston: 650
    Washington: 300

I don't see Blaylock getting nearly enough touches for 900 yards. How does Blaylock have more knowledge of the game? What does that even mean for a RB? I see it more like this:

    Martin: 1100
    Houston: 800
    Blaylock: 300
    Washington: 100

RB is probably the least affected postion when it comes to experience. A rookie RB can come in right away and have an impact, the same cannot be said about pretty much every other position.

    WTF????!!!!

Are you serious? You are saying our RB's will almost top 3000 yards Rushing? That is one of the most ridiculous things I have heard this offseason.

I don't even think a team has ever done that. 2 backs have combined for over 2000 yards (Franco and Rocky), but never have I seen a team get over 3000 rushing yards in a season.

Tough call but I would predict he may well be our No. 1 RB this year. Martin in my mind is done. Blaylock showed last year that he is a liability picking up the blitz and that is going to keep him out of games. Houston, in limited action, looked like a guy who runs hard and can pick up the blitz. I think by default he gets the bulk of the carries. Hopefully he proves worthy.

Houston is very similar to Martin when he first came into the league. He isn't a burner, but has great field vision and a north-south running style. The question is, does he have the durability and endurance that Martin has? If so, we could be set for 6-7 years at the position, barring injury.

Still wouldn't stop me from drafting Adrian Peterson next year, if he's available.
