One of the overlooked elements today was how well Rob Turner filled in for Slauson. He played a rather solid guard in the second half and OT. It's good to know there is some solid interior line depth like that, though I do hope Slauson's knee is OK - as I do Jerricho's groin and Lowery's head.
He has always done well when given the chance. It will be interesting off season for the Jets at RT. If they decide to say goodbye to Woody, Turner and Ducasse will battle it out at RT.
Is Wayne Hunter in the discussion for future starting RT? He's not as young as the others. He'll be 30 by next season. Turner and Vlad are obviously better long-term situations.
Legitimate point. Not sure how Vlad v. Turner would play out. Vlad may have an edge with some experience on the edge, and a bit more athleticism for T. But if they're both solid, it's a good problem to have, and it sets up the line for a good, long time.
He needs to tone down the chippyness. I kept waiting for him to cost us 15 yards in a bad spot..good thing it didnt happen.
The chippiness is his thing. Fights in camp, fights in preseason games... I just hope, if he's asked to step up, he shows some discipline and restraint without losing his edge.
Did anyone else notice that Turner was in on the D Line a few times when we went to a big line? I saw a number 75 on my screen and I went
I think we all do after spending a 2nd round pick for him, he is a huge body and should be able to push people around
I was just about to say this but I saw Wayne Hunter on defense, not Turner. Maybe we saw them both. Weird.
Why not? He is pretty solid imo. I expect a Hunter-Ducasse battle for that RT spot next year. I love Turner but he isn't a tackle.. he's a guard... Hunter and Turner have been on this team for three years...
