Haha, thats ballsy, but Revis is a beast of a tackler, they would never see it coming, still it is too risky. I would not complain if they tried it just once.
Hit the nail right on the head, when Brady gets hit early and often the Pats do not fair well. As long as the ref's don't hurt us to badly for getting his uniform too dirty, we have to lay Tom down as much as possiable. Even if he gets the pass off we must continue to hit him, as long as it is within the rules. Pats offense runs thru Brady, if Brady is running then the Pats offense isn't !!!! BTW, anyone want to keep a running count on the amount of times he cries to have a flag thrown on a legal defensive play....
I can see 3 or 4 times he turns to an official looking for some bullshit flag because he's not a football player.
I don't see Eric Smith covering anyone on the Pats roster at this point. If we have to rely on Smith's coverage skills, we are screwed.
I love how last year he gets praised for overachieving, and now after a shitty stretch of games we don't want him getting any snaps. He covers RBs well out of the backfield. It neutralized the Pats 3rd down offense. Why not do it again?
You're completely right about hitting Brady, but I have to ask; don't you think the Patriots are aware of this? They're going to have multiple hot reads on a given play to stop the overload blitzes Rex loves. I think blitzing a lot is what they expect and gameplan for, I like the idea of spying with Smith/Coleman because it's a tendency-buster.
And that's what killed a lot of the overload blitzes. Hot reads. I've seen QBs get the ball out before the pressure can get there for a 5 yard pass with 8 more on YAC. It'll be interesting to see what Rex dials up. I think Ihedigbo needs to have a big game next monday.
E. Smith is a tough tackler. I have seen too many times throughout his career him getting lost in coverage. Covering K. Faulk is one thing, trying to cover someone as quick as say Woodhead, is another. I don't see it happening, but we shall see. IMO, if we have to rely on Smith's coverage skills, we are screwed.
You can't be serious. Faulk is a 34 year old RB, woodhead is one of the more elusive quick RB's in the league. Don't embaress yourself with comments like that.
thats the one thing I see that hurts our pass rush the most this year. Teams see the overload blitz coming and the ball is out of the QB's hands to the hot guy within 2 seconds. Some times less than that. We all knew last year that QB's know against the jets on 3rd and long, they will have 2.8 seconds to throw the ball, they make sure its out in 2. which has killed us in 3rd and forever, because they hit the quick crossing route, and pick up the YAC.
I can't wait to see Woodhead try and run the ball against us. I can't wait to see Harris make the little guy pay. Brady's Home Winning Streak is on the line. This game is going to be amazing. (Unless NE comes out and drops 21 in the first quarter)
Wasn't Eric Smith shadowing Cedric Benson in the Bengals game? I seem to recall the announcers discussing it at some point. If so, it shows Rex would not be above trying that.
They play the same role, and the production is the same. Woodhead is younger, but he's no more dynamic than faulk. Don't let the fact that he was former Jet cloud reality. Fans have a tendency to do that. Green-Ellis is still the main back. Woodhead is the 3rd down pass option back. Kevin Faulk.
He was a former Jet. Everyone will overrate him the same way they overrate every other former Jet. The middle sentence will now turn into a debate.
