I just watched the video on the official site and Clemens mentioned that he spent draft day with his wife and grandparents. Then I looked at his bio and he just turned 23 on the sixth of this month. The guy was a starting QB at a major university and he marries that young? I'd like to know when he actually tied the knot, and if he's like super religious or something, cuz those people tend to marry pretty early. Anyways, that's about it.
I'm not sure when he got married, but this is a good thing. Being a young qb in New York with expectations is difficult for any player. Having a wife at home and not going out every night chasing girls and getting drunk can only be a good thing for him.
Clemens is a very genuine guy...... ....he won't get caught up in the bright lights of NY. His family has owned a ranch for several generations in the tiny eastern Oregon town of Burns. Clemens is a cowboy. He's very tough. In one game he dislocated his finger but stayed in the game. The coaches didn't know. He leads the team to a TD and then promptly goes over to the trainer to have it popped back into place. Against ASU last year he was attempting to score a TD when he got popped by two ASU defenders at the goaline. It was a collision for the ages. All 3 players were rolling on the ground. Clemens was the first to get up. He tried to help the other two players up but they were still out of it. Clemens was dazed for a moment but stayed in the game.
This is a story from a year ago about his marriage. He was married in June 2005, and they had known each other for four years. He refers to "2 a.m.-ers" before he was married, so I don't think he's overwhelmingly religious. http://www.registerguard.com/news/2005/08/06/b1.sp.bellamy.0806.p1.php?section=oregonfb
I think a lot more young athletes are married then you know. I mean if I was a great young player I would want to find someone I could trust before I was famous then find someone who may only love me for my name and money. Plus if the athlete is really driven he isn't going to have a ton of time to date around so finding that one to be able to go home to after a long day probably feels a lot better than having to go out and chase tail.
The people that replied to the post do obviously. You don't, so why waste your time being a dick with your smart-ass remark?
