If Ryan ordered the S/C coach to trip the guy that would be pretty low.

If he simply ordered them to make a line, however, the only thing that i would blame him (and westoff) for is letting the small guy take the fall. Call me crazy, but I find it hard to believe that the strength and conditioning coach orchestrated the whole thing, especially without the HC or special teams coach even noticing.

When your playing field is as wide as Angelina Jolie's vagina, these sorts of things simply can't happen.

As much as I'm actually sympathizing on this particular story... c'mon. For two years now Rex has been doing everything and anything possible to get the Jets in the spotlight. He's been loud, he's been bold, and he's been getting the Jets as much exposure as he'd been able to muster. Between his '09 preseason "kiss the rings" comments to Hard Knocks, he's invited this.

I'm not criticizing him here, just stating the facts. You can't spend two seasons saying, "Look at me!" and then complain about it when your team is under the spotlight in a negative sense.

    Just my two bits.

It doesn't make any difference whether he ordered the code red or not. McDaniels didn't know his guy was taping illegally. God only knows what Bellichek's minions have done leaving him plausible deniability. The fact is, even if he didn't order it, at best Rex created an atmosphere in which the S and C coach could boogie off on his own and do it. Amounts to the same thing.

And its getting tiresome. Rex's act isn't so entertaining when his team plays like shit, which is becoming more and more often.

I definitly do not condone the tripping, but no one seems to want to talk about the fact that the player was pulling a bush league move by continuing to run out of bounds on punts the way he was. I have no problem with them forming a wall I really don't, players shouldn't be running in that area anyway.

The worst indictment of Rex is this, if he were any other team's coach we'd laugh at him, and dismiss him as a blowhard who was all hat and no cattle.

This is why I get a little iffy on the plausible deniability thing. Just how plausible is a legitimate question.

Honestly, I just wish the whole thing would just go the fuck away.

OH come on... tripgate!? These guys really have nothing to write about... a win over PITT and hopefully they'll have some new material.

The whole tripping part is disgusting, but can someone clear up if "the wall" is truly "illegal"? I'm seeing stated everywhere that it is, but no one ever cites the rule stating it is.

"Theres no question that Rex has brought an unprofessional and somewhat embarrassing demeanor to teh Jets."

Are you sure about that? Seems to me he was only carrying on the tradition passed on by his father.

Why is this story refusing to die?! Who cares if they lined up, if there isn't a rule against then move on. Is it just me or is this simply a case of a guy using very poor judgment in a split second that he now regrets. I don't believe for a second that Rex or MW "ordered" this. It's just a bad decision and who hasn't made plenty of those in their lives. I don't think he planned to do it either, it just happened and he clearly regrets it.

Clearly this guy isn't some rich dude, so his lack of pay and possible job loss is beyond enough punishment. Move on!

It was from Mohegan Sun Sports Tonight on Comcast New England. Mike Felger, one of the hosts put it up because he loves to point out the double standard, and he's right. He played it last night.

But its the Jets, and its New York, and love-him-or-hate-him, Rex brought about all this scrutiny by inviting the world to look at us. Look at all the shouldabeen non-issues this year: Braylon's DUI, "harassing" the reporter, shoot, even going back to last year, the hotdog thing.

There is no such thing as a non-story when you're the Jets

I second this. Cimini is a douche. This isn't fucking journalism, it is opinion based editorial.

We have invited all of this scrutiny on to this franchise so we can't ask for the media to back away after hard knocks/soon to be champs comments/kiss his rings etc . We have painted a huge target on our backs for the opposition and the media.

This franchise ( coaching staff ) needs to grow the fuck up in the off season and implement some brains off the field as these distractions cannot be helpful!
