Gilbert had a sweet tackle for a loss! Ohhh...you said Gholston. That kid got a keen eye, I've seen him fill 50 cups and not spill one drop. All perfectly equal as well. Absolute gem to have on the team. In all seriousness...The guy has to go. Not only has he not recorded a sack in THREE seasons, he takes HORRIBLE angles at ball carriers. He needs to go, he's taking up a spot for someone valuable, like a 4th string QB, or a kickoff specialist.
it sucks that we wasted a first round pick on the guy. He hasn't produced shit in three seasons but we gave him his shot. Cut him and fill the roster spot with someone who can actually do something productive on the field.
The guy has no flexibility in his hips. All his speed is straight ahead. And can someone explain to me how it is possible for a guy who has been coached up for three years to have only one pass rushing move - a bull rush - which he was adept at when he was at OSU? He has made zero progress in the NFL. The guy is useless.
With all the signings we need to make next year it's be great to unload him. We are still on the hook for $5,806,667.00 in 2011 and $2,903,334.00 in 2012. Maybe wherever Mangini winds up he can convince them to trade for him.
Gholston never gets any respect. If you count the number of 'almost sacks' that the Ghost has had, his adjusted career sack total is 32.
And don't forget, he is constantly double-teamed! I think we used that excuse for about 4 years when DeWayne Robertson was drafted. There is no doubt this guy will be cut this offseason. Only question is which team picks him up and whether they figure out how to get any production out of him. I don't think there is anything else the Jets can do to make Chicken Soup out of Chicken shit!
i tried to watch him as much as possible in the game, early on. i make that caveat, bc i stopped... early on. bc he sucks. apparently later in the game he took on more double teams, and if his role was to take on and keep busy the blockers of the opposing team, he did splendidly. he has absolutely no drive/passion/motor whatever you call it that makes people go for the ball ... he doesn't have it. i watched him literally run into the pass block, stop, wait for the qb to cock, and then jump to block the ball... which is kinda what you want someone to do.... its just after the running into the pass block, and before trying to knock hte ball down, most make some attempt to push the line back. he was content with keeping the OL at the LOS with arms extended for a good 7 seconds before trying to block hte ball. i've seen more instinct at my nephew's pee wee league. and they're 10.
My only fear is that Belichick picks him up over the off-season and turns him into the next LT. Don't laugh, he actually did help LT become who he was AND has a history of turning insignificant players into strong contributors. He has the magic touch and it would be pretty scary to see someone of Gholston's size and strength actually learn how to play football under the right coach.
lets assume bill has this magical Under Armor commercial-esque way of making shitty players godlike. if he got gholston, he might make him a UFL player.
FUCK! I admit I only half ass paid attention to the game half the time, but I really wanted to see Gilbert. Pissed I missed him.
