Think about it, Rex and some Jets talk some trash the entire week, Belicheck tells his team to not talk about the Jets, Welker who never comments on anything made the foot jokes and he got benched. The players have a tremendous amount of pressure on them to be silent and they can't let out their frustrations by talking to the media so when game time comes and they have all of this frustration built up it has an adverse affect on them. T hey looked tight, frustrated and didn't look like they were having fun, then when they lost all the emotion and anger spilled out ala Deion Branch For example, Phil Simms said: These guys have been talking all week, you wanted to shut them up but you haven't been able to do it Maybe the trash talking not only took the pressure of our guys but put it on theirs.
You def have a valid point. We played pissed off and they played patty cake. Brady was def frustrated from the beginning, esp when Harris almost took the ball for 6. Their def was suspecT and looked very immature... Seems like our talking prob got to the young defenders head. Oh well either way the game had a great story to it from the beginning of the week to the end.
I think we got in their heads, but not by trash talking all week. We got in their heads when we showed up to play.
I do think that the fact that many Pats players, the younger guys, don't really have playoff experience, might have been a factor, the Ravens win last year being not a good experience. But then look at a veteran like Mankins losing it and drawing a personal foul. Wow. I think it was the talk followed by the Jets showing up. The whole mantra of the Pats is be controlled. The Jets were showing they could play the Jet style and beat them, and it frustrated them to no end.
The CBs locking down the WRs got into their head. Our DL collapsing the pocket got into their head. Eric Smith cracking Wes Welker's helmet got into their head. David Harris picking off the infallible Tom Brady got into their head. Braylon Edwards dragging 2 DBs into the endzone got into their head.
You may have gotten in to the Pats head,,,,,,,,and you are now in your own headhmy: Just a little ball bustin............but true at the same time! I just watched the Jet's gush all over the Ben and the Steelers on ESPN! From Rex to Reavis they were talking about how great Ben and the Steelers are! This has to be the result of the leagues' warnings last week and it has to be taking the mouths out of their element! They won't know how to act!
So you really believe they forgot how to play JETS Football and will somehow play soft against a team they "respect" ? Weird. Rex will cook up a gameplan to beat the Steelers since they too got in his way once before. He'll get the players ready, thinking otherwise is crazy.
i said in an earlier post that the one team NE would HATE MORE THAN ANYTHING to lose to is the NY Jets, and if we get ANY momentum brady would start gripping, panicing, and playing like shit. there you have it.
In case you didn't notice, the Jets are also one win from the Super Bowl. Many on the team have never been there, including some hungry vets nearing the end of their careers. If you think the Jets need to "talk" for motivation you are fucking stupid.
i think its possible rexy threw belichick off his game a little bit (pats deferring to jets on kickoff, the sluggish 4th quarter 7-minute drive, etc.)...id like to believe that rexy tweaked belichick enough to throw him off his game a little
No, there's just no personal animosity between the Jets and Steelers. The Jets respect the Steelers and the Steelers respect the Jets. Maybe Bart Scott has beef with a few of those guys but there's no back story here. Just a football game between the two best teams in the AFC.
Hell yeah we did, Rex started it before we even beat Indy. That was my thought from the start. Brady is a egomaniac, so those Peyton comments without a doubt got under his skin. Brady has never played well when he's taken out of his comfort zone.
The Jets did more then get in the Pats face....the fans are jumping ship over there. Just reading some of the stuff on their fan forum is funny. I have friends in the Boston area and they keep calling me what is being said on the radio there. Rex and The Jets have killed them alot more then we realize
Oh and like Pryce (I think it was Pryce?) said, when Brady dropped back and saw nobody opened he had the fear of God in him. How often do you see Brady dropping back, sitting there for several seconds while his offensive line gives him all day and eventually somebody gets open on a comeback route? Pretty often right? Not this time. The Jets CBs (that includes #30 Drew Coleman and #20 Kyle Wilson too I bet) locked them down when it mattered most.
