I think that the majority of Jets fans will tell you they have no idea what to expect from this team next year. There will be quite a bit of roster turnover. Could mean taking a step back or could mean improvement.

Totally agree. It appears Rex and Tanny will take this route and realize that Sanchez needs to have his weapons on the offense. What we want in year three is stability outta the O and therefore, we need to keep as many guys there as possible.

It is my belief that Rex can put together any 7 guys on the front 7 and make them competitive. You can't coach speed though, so we need to look at revamp there.

This NE fan thinks that both the Jets and the Pats are on the rise.

Ryan and Sanchez have shown that they are for real, and NE has done a (long overdue) overhaul, with crazy draft picks in hand.

The AFCE looks to be a serious battleground for the next several years.

What if the Dolphins learned to play offense and the Bills didn't have terrible luck in close games? The AFCE would embarrass the entire league.

That's what I think. For years, I think the Patriots were hoping to tinker with the defense in the hopes they could win with what they had. They finally blow it up and still do pretty well.

And there's no question the Jets have taken their team to the next level as well.

Agreed. We all want to win. But there are only two outcomes you might prefer to that which the Jets acheieved this season. Losing or winning the SB. Better than 3-13 by a long shot.

Don't count on either of those things happening anytime soon...at least no in 2011 The Dolphins QB situation is a mess and they're not picking high enough to get a QB that can step in and win games for them right away. The Bills are in full rebuild mode.

I think the Jets have officially upped the ante. Between the talking and going over NE in a HUGE playoff game, they need to win now.

They need to do whatever they need to do to sign their FA's and draft well. Anything less than an SB next year will be a failure. If they can't sign who they need, the draft picks from 2010 and 2011 don't pan out, and they don't get farther than last year, it's a failure.

Success is always a relative thing.

Say, for example, you look at academics. A student who has had a consistent D-average scores a B on their final exam. Success.

A student who has an A-average also scores a B. Failure.

Getting to the AFCCG two years in a row has been an unequivocal success on the Jets' part, in my opinion. But if they don't break through and make it to "the big game" within the next 2 or 3 seasons of Ryan's tenure, do you think he'll be canned? Or that he'll still be talking about the Super Bowl? Probably, and probably not...

BTW, I had no idea who this writer was... had to google him. Most people outside of Providence don't even glimpse at The Providence Journal.

I wouldn't consider it a bust, but that is how history will look upon it. Just look at the Bills' accomplishment of getting to 4 straight Super Bowls in '90-'93. A remarkable accomplishment that is looked upon as failure.

I certainly wouldn't call it that, but most do and perception is reality.

Rexy is a success, the last time I expected the Jets to REALLY contend for a superbowl before a season started was 1999.

Rex has proven he can get the Jets there at any time.

I don't think he's proven that as there are way too many variables to just "get the Jets there", but Rex certainly has proven he is a very good coach who is trending upwards. The future is very bright for the Jets no doubt.
