Sanchez should come into his own during his 3rd year in the league. 6 career playoff gm's is plenty of experience for a 3rd year QB. We have a great WR trio of Edwards, Holmes & Cotchery. Keller should continue to develope as well. Our O-Line is set. Turner vs Vlad @ RT is our only '?' mark. Slauson seems to be a productive LG. This should be SG's breakout year. With or without LT, Greene should get 65% of our carries. I say let Brad walk to free up $ for our 'D'. We should focus on a pass rushing OLB during round 1 to replace JT & play opposite Pace, followed by a 3-4 DE during round 3 to play opposite of Ellis (assuming we bring Ellis back for cheap). We should be in good shape @ NT with Pouha & Jenkins trying to return. Focus on NT during next years draft. Losing Cro is a set back, but now it's time for Revis & our 1st rounder Wilson to become our CB duo. I'm not against signing Champ; Nickel is a concern. With a strong offseason, our D should rank top 5 under Ryan for the 3rd consecutive season.
I agree this year should be about the Defense! Hopefully we can somehow address needs on both sides via free agency. That said I think NT is a priority rite behind OLB. Somewhere in there I also feel safety MUST BE addressed for depth / we really could use a play maker back there!
Not to rain on the parade (and I basically agree with you) but I have to note that Holmes, Edwards and Turner are all free agents. If we don't resign them our offense doesn't look so good anymore. I would change it to read - concentrate on the defense AFTER securing the needed free agents on offense.
I agree the offense should be very good, assuming Holmes and Edwards are back. If we have CBA before the draft, i would ty to sign Paul Soliai and draft Sheard in rd. 1 and I would aslo draft OLB in the 3rd. Team needs speed on the edge.
Man imagine if we somehow got Percy Harvin on this team too? WOW we would be soooooo exciting with youthful potential
So this offseason should be all about the defense, yet you are assuming we have Holmes and Edwards next year? It's going to take some offensive offseason work to get that to happen...
I really doubt the offense is going to be "really good" next year. Sanchez was below average stat wise and unless there's a Josh Freeman type turnaround, he's not going to be lighting it up. Greene also hasn't shown (been given a chance) that he can carry most of the workload for an entire season.
I think this off season is going to be all about the offense and the defense. And special teams. And the draft. And the trades. And coaching. And the CBA.
I think we need to see who gets resigned on Offense, before we actually know how good our Offense will be next year lol
Melo only wants to play in NY I hear, do you think he'd be open to playing WR for us? I know we play in NJ but we're called NY
