They should just cram every white RB and WR on the cover. Actually, it probably wouldn't involve any cramming.
Jets fans will always whine about Woodhead, because there were some of us who saw what he could do if given a chance, and he was never given a chance as a Jet. I laugh at you suckers who still tag him with the "Chrebet" syndrome... Chrebet was good, and so was Woodhead. The Jets were too stoooopid to let him play. At the very least, he should have been returning punts and KO's. Woodhead may be more than just a role player, and I'm sure he's no one year wonder. No, he isn't a 20 carry RB, but I doubt McKnight will ever be one either, and that was the choice... the golden child, the pick used on McKnight, or the undrafted who cares little white RB. I don't think McKnight could even shine Woodhead's shoes. Uh-oh, that's gonna make me sound like a racist, isn't it?
Oh, I didn't realize we were talking about Madden. Agreed, he would probably be a solid Madden kick returner.
And there were some of us who saw what he could do IF HE WERE IN THE PATRIOTS SYSTEM that he never would have done for us. Go ahead. Check my posts the day he signed with them. I'll wait. I can't believe people are still complaining. He wasn't as good of a fit for us. He was never going to supplant Smith on kickoffs. He wasn't going to get carries this season. The only unfortunate thing was the timing of the cut. He should have stayed on the roster until Holmes returned instead of the roster juggling we saw in the first 4 weeks.
^I'll even help you out. Here are my posts from the day he signed: For the sake of honesty, this one was a week later: Posters automatically assume that players who excel in one system would excel in any system. If that's the case, explain the massive drop off in play experienced by so many former Patriots on other teams. They're the best in the league at getting players who fit what they want to do. Woodhead's signing was unfortunate timing. That's the ONLY thing the Jets did wrong. They released him right before our game with the Pats, and even worse, right before Kevin Faulk got hurt.
Yeah give the little guy a chance! Let's take one of the best KOR's and Jimmy Leonard's good PR duties for the little guy! Go little man! Win one for the underdog!!! McKnight's ability pisses on Danny Woodhead scheme based results. And we seem to dismiss McKnight's game against Buffalo. He did it behind the 2nd string OL. No fumbles. Do we remember that? No, we lament about some small role playing RB who means nothing to the Jets and never has beyond being the little engine that could for a guy who clearly pulled himself up by his bootstraps and became an NFL player at the end of the season. McKnight went from heading towards getting cut by his 2nd year to taking football seriously and showing the ability of why he was drafted in the first place. But we won't give McKnight that credit because he doesn't have the requirements for Chrebet Syndrome. Fuck, if Woodhead threw up during his conditioning test, passed it, had a fumbling problem, was benched all season, then overcame his bad habits and had a good week 17 people would be discussing how LT doesn't need to be on the team anymore because Woodhead can take it over. The above paragraph is true, because years of the same pattern of thought from Jets fans make it true. So fucking sick of this underdog bullshit and this "what if" dreaming only because he went to the Pats and found a role there. Get the fuck over it. He's so fucking replaceable its not even funny.
I cared infinitely more about him going to the Pats than I did about him getting cut by us. I'm just tired of still hearing that we should have kept him and that his success is proof that he had a place with us. Fuck that noise. That prediction was so fucking easy to make.
That's why I posted the above. I'm sick of the crying about this kid. He's a nice story, but to think their is spilled milk on the floor is just short sighted and embarrassing.
Haha I remember that day and I don't know if I took the time to agree with you in the thread but you are right that it was an easy call. The problem with the woodhead argument is that there seems to be a very distinct "type" of fan that loves to complain about it still. We all know the type, SOJ at the first sign of trouble, cut this guy the first time we learn about a negative, fire this coach when I disagree with one of his moves. Predictable arguments from predictable pussies.
Woodhead From my point of view, I am convinced that Danny Woodhead is a better NFL professional running back than any poster on this board....
I'm tired of the freakin woodhead love. Its not like he had a 1500 yd season! He did alright running the ball on a team that had a decent O-line and NO runningbacks worth anything!! Its a good story that some midget found some playing time, but its not like the Jets let go of a future hall of famer or even a future starter. Next year when the Pats are giving the ball to Ingram and Woodhead's only out there covering punts Madden and those losers in Boston that bought his jersey are gonna feel pretty stupid
Bill didn't use Woodhead too wisely in the playoff game against the Jets - he ran Woodhead into the line many times and predictably he had a big fumble that was recovered by the Jets.
