Re Christmas eve- there are 13 games that day, a regular season weekend but played on a Saturday (other than the Xmas GB-Chi game).
I head to Miami every year for the Jet game. New Years day at 1PM is a rough draw, but looks like we'll go anyway and celebrate New Years eve Miami style, followed up by some hungover tailgating in the heat..
I think we've proven time and again that the talent of the team that we're facing means nothing. We've beaten all the best teams and we've almost been beaten by all the worst teams. That's why I'm so concerned with underlying circumstances. If we lose to the Patriots at home in prime time (just like last year) there's a good chance we'll lose our next game (particularly if it comes four days later on the road).
This schedule S U C K S sucks sucks sucks. Did Kraft make this schedule? Five night games (the Pats only have 3). Three road games in a row from weeks 3-5 with the last two being at Baltimore at night and then ending with the Pats? Why 3 in a row and why the Pats at the end of the road swing after a night game? Playing the Broncos on a Thursday night in Denver after hosting a Sunday night game against the Pats? WTF?????? It's bad enough playing on a short week, but to do it after a night game against our arch rivals and then make the Jets fly cross country. The Pats have one short week and finish with two weeks at home. I think this schedule is ridiculous
The bye is on the last day of my (as yet unplanned) vacation, so I don't have to worry about being on the road. And wow, that's a lot of national games (inc 4:15 starts, obviously feature games) another reason for me to put off switching to satellite for Sunday ticket. Jets-Chargers on my vacation, too bad its out of driving range for me, or I might have made a road trip.
That's what i'm talking bout.. Note, i have not cleared this plan with the wife yet, so shhhhhhhh for now.
Looking at that three game road trip again - what was the NFL thinking? Cross country vs Oakland, Sunday night vs Baltimore, and then at NE. AGain WTF??????
It is beyond stupid. I cannot fathom why the schedule makers went that route. That Denver game might be the toughest game on the schedule. Yeah, we know Denver stinks but they are not going to go 0-16. The Jets will have a very short week and have to play in the thin air of Denver. If the league wanted the Jets to play a road game on a Thursday after a Sunday night game, then the very least they could have done was schedule the game against another east coast team.
In case anyone else is not sure why the Jets are going to Oakland again, here is the explanation- The Jets play against the entire AFC West every three years. 2002- home vs KC & Den, at Oak & SD 2005- home vs Oak & SD, at KC & Den 2008- home vs KC & Den, at Oak & SD 2011- home vs KC & SD, at Oak & Den Note the change there. Oakland and San Diego used to be together, but no longer will be. The 2007 Chiefs-Jets game was not part of the AFC East vs AFC West rotation. That game was played because both the Jets and Chiefs were 2nd place finishers in 2006.
I understand this is outside of the reasoning you posted, but the Jets also played @Oak in 2001, 2003 and 2009. So we were @Oak in 6 of the last 7 regular season meetings.
