I don't think they really did last year. I mean yeah Wilson got a birds-eye view at how revis prepares and the type of work that he does, but I don't know how much revis took him under his wing and taught him. Most of that sort of thing occurs in the offseason and into TC. Once the season starts, each player has to worry about themselves, and maybe occasionally worry about their fellow position mates. In the case of Revis, he is pretty lone-wolf as it is, mid season he has to be locked in a room and simply studying film till he drops. I doubt he has much time for his team mates. Especially when he literally is on an island by himself all day long, he doesn't need to trust anyone but himself. So I don't think that he spent too much time working with K-dub midseason. Especially after skipping TC and missing all of the time due to injury. Isn't Dre Bly still in the league? Also I honestly think Glenn considers himself a Texan, and is much more proud of that, than he was of being on our shitty ass Jets teams in the late 90's (Outside of 98 of course!). K-Dub needs a teacher, but the best one in the world is the one he is about to start working with in Scottsdale Arizona.
Revis was holding out. They didn't work together that much last year at all due to Revis contract situation. Revis is the veteran.
He definetly improved noticeably as the season went on, which is what we'd all expect. Have to love the resources he has at his disposal.
Revis had a shot at a pick himself. Down the right sideline. I know he thinks he shouldda caught that one.
I'd like to re-sign Cro and keep one of the wideouts instead of both wideouts and no Cromartie. If we can have Cromartie and Wilson along with Revis our defense would be set to stop any passing attack in the league. If our draft picks this year in Wilk and Ellis can come in and be productive it's over. I have enough confidence in Mark to win with Edwards or Holmes, Cotch, Keller, Kerley and the running attack. We will always be a run first team. Just what I think would be best for the team.
Good News, but curious now... Who else is headed to Arizona? Regardless, I hope Kdub breaks out this year.
If Cromartie weren't such a flake I'd agree 1000% It just pains me to spend that kind of money on maybe the biggest Idiot in the NFL! Lets see how Cro's Money compares to Aso - Is it close at all? Cuz it shouldn't be!!!!! Meanwhile Braylon and Holmes both give the Jets different looks at WR and are both needed... I also like Sanchez having targets he is used to while I believe Rex can Scheme and find a CB while I have a lot of faith in KDub on the outside as opposed to covering the slot. Just find a good Slot CB and move on!!!
I am a proponent of keeping the best players and finding a way to feel the holes. Holmes and Edwards are better players than Cro, so I want them back. Couple that with the most important player on our team, bar none is Sanchez and we have to keep those guys. Helping to bring Sanchez as close as possible to his ceiling is the most important thing the Jets organization can do. Holmes and Edwards are the guys we really need to bring back above all others imo.
K-Dub working out with Revis, and Jets West, are the two best pieces of news I've heard all offseason. Great to see Revis taking Wilson under his wing and teaching the kid. It's awesome to see our young, milestone franchise players (Sanchez & Revis) taking leadership initiatives in the offseason.
Kyle Wilson and every other DB in the league that cares. This is the place right?-- http://sullivanproformance.com/sports/football Revis pic all over the site. “WILL IS THE BEST POSITION COACH I’VE EVER HAD. THE WAY HE FOCUSES ON PERFECT TECHNIQUE MAKES ME STRIVE TO BE THE BEST DEFENSIVE BACK IN THE NFL. I’M GLAD TO SAY THAT I HAVE A PERSON LIKE WILL WHO PROVIDES GUIDANCE ON AND OFF THE FIELD. THANKS WILL!” -DARRELLE REVIS, NFL ALL-PRO
I would start a new thread with what I'm about to say, but since I'm new and don't post all that much, I'm gonna say it here... is anyone else concerned with the giant void at right tackle with damien woody's departure? I realize Ducasse will most likely be taking his place and that scares me. He's from UMass, a small school, and we all know the argument about lower level of competition at smaller schools. Woody was rock solid for us, and now Ducasse could be a major liability at RT. We'll obviously still have that run-first philosophy, which I love, but I'm hoping Vlad doesn't struggle too much. I know like most of you that I'm worried about re-signing the big 3, but we know what we're getting from those guys. We have no idea what to expect from Vlad at tackle, and that scares me.
1) hes not a rookie anymore, the transistion from a small school has already happened 2) woody is 33 and had a very serious injury, he also could be a major liablility 3) you (we) dont have an idea what to expect but im sure the coaching staff does
Wayne Hunter played great in his absence. I know he's a FA but he'll be coming back. Only 29, with not much wear and tear just yet.
After the first couple of games (in which I Hated him) Hunter player well at RT and he should start there in 2011... if Ducasse beats him in TC all the better, otherwise I'd be happy with Hunter at RT and Ducasse taking Hunter's old role as the 6th lineman.
1) He didn't start one game and played only against the Bills (both times) when the game was out of reach. That's hardly a transition and the playing time doesn't exactly scream out "veteran". Ducasse has been quoted to saying that the hardest part of his rookie season was learning the playbook. FYI, he scored a 13 on his wonderlic (not a good argument, but it's a fact) 2) Woody is a free agent, and I have hard time believing we'll retain him coming off a serious knee injury at his age.
