No, it just takes into account the qb's contribution to a passing play. If he throws a screen pass and the rb breaks 5 tackles on his way to a 50 yard td it will count less for the qb than a perfectly thrown 50 yard bomb for a td.
Really? They had nothing more productive to do than make up yet another ratings system, and then re-watch every game in the last three years?? Where do I apply for that job?
This QBR is much improved but we don't need to adopt it as some new Bible, which ESPN is trying to do. It's like saying eating SPAM is much better than eating dogshit but in the grand scheme of things neither one is good.
Be bought time in the pocket. He never took chances against the Jets defense. He threw the ball away to live another down. It was amazing game management. Neither QB could do anything that day because the defenses were so good. He did a great job not putting the D in a bad spot all game.
It needs to be sold as the new 'bible', when the old "bible" is so vastly inferior, and is currently viewed as the gold standard, in the way QB rating is.
Im glad someone else here likes it as much as i do its much better than the old passer rating It takes into account many factors such as -Game situation (like QB's won't get penalized for a intercepted hail mary pass as the clock runs out in the 1st half) -potential to score points in the play -field position (redzone interceptions hurt more than regular interceptions) -The work the QB does (Yards through the air, Yac doesnt play much or a part in this rating system) -they get credit for rushing yards and 1st downs -throwing for a first down on 3rd and 8 is worth more than throwing for one on 1st and 10 -They get penalized if they hold on to the ball too long and get sacked but dont get penalized if they are rushed by a blitz and gets sacked almost immediately -and tons more This is a very sophisticated and well thought out system giving the most accurate grading for QB's that I have ever seen
this new system sucks also it takes humans watching video and judging what they see. look at some of the top guys over the past few years. please this is as big of a joke as espn is
