Maybe their lousy GM would have a slightly easier job if he didn't have the most disliked coach in the league putting decent FA players off from wanting to talk to him.

Whether or not Coughlin is a bad coach doesnt matter. Its time for a change. You can only have the same boss yelling the same things soo many times before it gets old

We should re-sign Joe Namath to go under center

Tom Coughlin strikes me as a guy who hates being an NFL coach.

I think of Bill Parcells when I think of Tom Coughlin. Parcells seems like he might have said at some point in his career, "I fucking hate coaching pro football, but I'm so damn good at it I might as well stick with it." (I actually think I'm paraphrasing an Onion article there).

But even Parcells had moments where you could tell he just loved being a coach. I don't get that with Coughlin. It just seems to me that he thinks being an NFL head coach is akin to being President of the United States: it's a terrible fucking job, but it's too big an honor to turn down if you have the opportunity.

And Coughlin isn't a good coach. His team feeds off his negativity. Forget all that "player's coach" nonsense; he's the most negative head coach in football and his team suffers because of it. There's an extensive list of quality Giants who didn't or don't want to play in the biggest sports market in the world simply because their boss is a dick.

If the Giants cant beat the Redskins what makes you think they have a chance against Dallas or the Eagles ?

1 week is all it took for the Giant fans to begin to come back to reality realizing that all the Jet fans who told them they were going to fucking blow this season were correct, and that the Giants are truly becoming the irrelevant franchise that Jet fans have told them that they really are these last couple of years.

Not to mention they probably just figured out that the only NY team thats going to beat Dallas this year already won that matchup.

Coughlin has won as many playoff games in the last 3 years as Belichick.

    Just sayin'.

Don't assume the Giants are better than the Redskins. That should not have been a surprise on Sunday afternoon. I actually thought the Giants were the worst team in the East before the season started.

I was just saying this last night. Some Giant fans are so jealous they actually rooted for Dallas.

There was a Giant fan who had a great call into NFL radio. Saying something like Giant fans need to stop hanging their hat on a SB win that happened years ago. That's always the first thing out of aGiant fans mouth when arguing with a Jet fan.

More than half the people blasting Coughlin in this thread do not post at this forum anymore.

I have been a pro-Coughlin fan since the early 1990s. Thought he should have gotten the NYG job in '93. I like his demeanor and approach. He reminds me of Chuck Noll- serious, non-nonsense- the anti-Rex Ryan.

I was down on the Giants this season due to injuries and schedule. Thought all four East teams would finish between 7-9 and 10-6. Thought Giants would go 7-9.

    What I learned this season?
If the QB stays healthy, do not worry about injuries. The 2010 Packers could have been looked at as a fluke. But look now. Do not think that was a fluke. Teams can overcome mass injuries now so long as the QB stays healthy.

wait so we should have praised Coughlin for winning a playoff game in one of his previous 7 years? we should have praised him for barely making the playoffs and only doing so b/c it was in a weak division? He was rightfully on the hotseat and very nearly was fired. if Victor Cruz doesn't make that play against us there is a great chance Coughlin would have been fired or "retired" after this season.

He would have been gone if they dropped their final two regular season games, but the Giants won. "If" sucks. I am not a big "if" fan because when people use "if" it is usually sour grapes.

Coughlin was good at BC and Jacksonville. I didn't like when he got the NYG job because I would not be able to root for him much anymore.
