I agree that the Patriots defense has a long way (although I think it's already better then last year). But which offense do you think is better? The Jets or the Chargers. The Jets offense looks better this year but I think the Chargers offense is very good.
I'd say Chargers but only cause of Rivers. Dude is a beast and so is Vincent Jackson with the game he had today.
Ryan Mathews could turn the worst offense in the league into the best offense in the history of the game.
IF that idiot running back with the stars shaved into the side of his head didn't have that horrible fumble they would have had a real shot at it.
until we fix our offense there is no chance of this happening, we have no chance of winning a shootout against Brady
No, but we can certainly reduce it to something other than a shootout. We did that twice last year but I realize it won't be as easy this time around.
It's week 2. Id say its a little early to draw conclusions about the year. SD didn't look afraid to me. They had lots of chances to win. As for the Jets winning both games against the Pats, it's possible. That said, the past few years we've split the series.
When was the last time we swept the Pats? I think it was Brady's rookie season (when he didn't play). Not so confident about sweeping these guys. The thought of the Jets trying to cover those 2 TE's is terrifying. I agree that the Pats 'D' is not elite yet but neither is the Jets' 'O'.
The Pats' offense is absolutely deadly. It's frightening how easy they make it look. I can't wait to see what Rex draws up to counter that. Hopefully the offense can stay consistent for 60 minutes against that D. Rivers and Tolbert both gave me a couple of facepalm moments yesterday though. Ugly, ugly ugly turnovers.
I'm pretty sure they are not over-rated. Brady has all day to throw for a reason, and Hernandez/Gronkowski create hge match-up problems for everyone they face. Dieon Branch consistently finds holes in zone coverage and Brady always seems to know where he is and Welker can consistently turn 3 yard catches into 8 yard gains...and he also created matchup problems. The Law Firm and Danny Woodhead are good enough to be dangerous as runners and the Pats line always seems to be able to make a crease. The Pats completely embarassed the Jets late in the season last year. This year, the Pats D looks vulnerable but they get it done when they have to. The Pats O is off to a good start. So how are they voer-rated and how will the Jets, who are off to a slow start, manage to beat them twice? We have 2 more games to get it together before we have to go into their house. NE will likely be 4-0 at that point but the way the Jets are playing. It's no guarantee we'll be 4-0. Like it or not, based on what we have seen so far, NY still faces an uphill battle to win the division.
Because our OC sucks. Belli is letting him stand back and chuck it in under 3 seconds. All day long. WE can cover them well enough to negate that, but excepting NYJ and Baltimore, most teams can't deal with that. WE ARE BUILT for that kind of offense, and we saw a little more of it yesterday, hpefully they're just putting it aside until it's needed. But, what you're seeing is another phase of evolution. What bothers me, is Rex gets it. (big $$$ in the secondary, not so much up front) But fails to make Schotty get it. Brady will be threatening 3K by the bye (week7) Marino will get knocked of the Single season yards perch this year. Any one care to prognosticate what NE does to Dallas, and Pitt two teams that thrive on pressure upfront?
To me, the main worry is the TE's. Gronk and Hernandez are deadly weapons at this point, and Brady is looking pretty comfortable with the two of them. We are also a team that is notorious with struggling with TE's. If rex has a scheme that can stop this, then we are in good shape. I think he can, and did twice last year, but they look even better this year. We shall see how this unfolds...
Pats are going to follow the old Colts model this year. Our D is shit and we know it but we can score 40 points a game so go fuck yourself. In two games Brady has completed 71% of his passes for 940 yds 7TD and 1 INT with two senior citizen WRs, a white guy, and two 2nd year TEs. WHo the hell needs defense? The story with Brady will be the same as ever. You need to get quick pressures and cover well which is tough for even top tier defenses let alone run of the mill types Plus look at their schedule...they can quite possibly go 14-2 again this year. Last 7 games of the season...Chiefs, Eagles, Colts, Skins, Broncos, Dolfags, Buffalo....the Eagles are the only team with a legit shot.
no one is afraid of them the pats are a good team and they just outscore teams and capitalize on the other teams mistakes
