Don't get me wrong, I am hopeful for the upcoming season as well. I think 8-8 is certainly a possibility, I just have no illusions that it will be because Martin carried us on his back all the way to 1000 yards. And thanks for the heads up I didn't know we played 7 of those teams, that's pretty freakin sweet.

disclaimer: I'm not saying they are worse than us (cause it might attract the disease that is RaiderJoke :rofl2:), I just think they have a comparable outlook as us. It can be argued that we are the worst of that bunch, but it can also be argued that we are the best.

If we suck...I hope we suck bad.

At least we'll get a stud draft pick to look forward to...

Agreed completely. All Salisturd is doing is playing the safe hand, as usual, the realistic odds are that the Jets don't find live whistle-to-whistle cohesion on either side of the ball for half a season. We all like the writers/analysts that dare to risk sharing an unlikely scenario of the Jets surprising in 2006, but it is just that: unlikely.

There is a reason many people are not being vilified for expecting nothing from this season... and are content with that, for the sake of rebuilding.

I might be in the minority here, but I actually like Salisbury. I may not agree with the things he says sometimes, but if he believes something, he's gonna come out and say it (Like Jim Rome). And the things he DOES say isn't just the same old opinions rehashed for you every day on ESPN (Unlike Jim Rome). I think he really gives football a uniquie look and give a great perspective to the program. I'd like to see more of him to be honest with you.

In any case, I don't mind if you hate the guy for who he is. You're allowed to hate the guy's smugness, I can see where that gets irritating. But don't have him for the content. Because the guy's right. We're really no better than 6 wins at best.

Do you guys know who went between 7-9 wins last year?

Atlanta, Dallas, Minnesota, San Diego, Miami

We are not in the leauge of any of those teams in terms of talent, and on top of all of that, we're in the beginning of imploding this team in order for a turn around. Those of you who see 8 wins on the schedule are delusional.

Yes, I know it's a weak schedule. Do you know why we got a weak schedule? Because we were bad last year, and we earned it. Let's stop the non-sense.

/Wake me up for the '07 Draft

if he wants to suprise someone and build some crediblity...(which Salisbury steak doesnt have) then he should state something other then the obvious for once...its safe to say the jets suck...thats what it looks like from the outside...but when the jets show up to play this year and go at least 8-8...he looks like an even dumber schmuck!

As Jet fans we should not have any false elusions. As previously stated Atlanta, Dallas, San Diego and Minn went between 7-9 and they have proven playmakers. We are going to have a top five pick in next years draft. We can start the playoff talk in 2008.

Yeah he was, but we had no QB that year and had to run.

I think so. I remember being at the game and they flashed on the big screen that he had broken 1k for the season.

First of all - I don't care what our record is in 2006. The goal this year is to improve the core of the team and look forward. Getting at op 5 pick or even a top 3 next year will only make us better as we look toward 2007 and 2008.

Second, I cannot stand Salisbury! He's arrogant and obviously anti-Jet.

It might make us better, but you don't build a team through consistent picks in the top 5. Yeah the players are "elite," but so are their contracts. If you can pick between 5-15 you still get great talents with almost as good a chance to succeed (Vilma) and they come at a fraction of the price. A couple top 5 picks in a row will kill your cap in 2-3 years when they hit their escalators (think D-Rob right now).
