I went there and they didn't let me in because my camera "looked too professional." So, we turned around and went to Central Park instead
I was there and I was pleased to see barton was still on the team, he has been rarely talked about so I was happy to see him all over the field. Graham kicked like 2/3s of the field. He mustve kicked a 65 yard punt at one point. Tim Dwight dropped a punt and was booed (and had to do a lap) but then was cheered when he caught the next. Coles looked by far the best for the wide recievers. Pennington looks just as slow with his passes, but just as confident as he once was. For the defensive line, ellis, robertson and byron thomas look like theyre in good shape. i used to call robertson "porky" but he looks to have slimmed down a bit.
Nah, I don't have a press pass. I tried telling them that I'd never had any problems at Hofstra and that it was a practice session and not an actual game broadcast on TV but those numbnut Meadowlands employees didn't want to listen. I could have gotten in without the camera, but what's the point? Ended up having a much better time in the city anyway....
^^^ What T-Bird said. I guess CP and Ramsey will get the bulk of the snaps in today's closed practice.
I was there as well, the only conclusions I really came to centerred on how hard it was to get a read on a player when he's out there in shorts, besides the physical size of the guy. That said, I tried to spend a lot of time looking at what Brad Smith was doing, I noticed he was catching punts before the practice started officially, but then didn't in the true drills. He did drop some passes he should have caught, but also was in position to make two almost spectacular catches (one on a bad throw, the other on the jump ball at the end of the sit. drill), so at least he's running his routes correctly. After watching him so much at Mizzou, it was clear that the athletic and mental parts weren't going to be a problem, just has to find his hands. I was also impressed by Coles, I thought he was a step slow last year because of that toe, but he seemed to be sharp yesterday. He was doing his patended comeback jump catch with ease. I was also impressed with the arm of Kellen Clemons, someone mentioned how he was throwing into traffic a lot, I contribute that to him adjusting to the speed of the NFL. At Oregon he was known for fitting balls into tight spots, despite not having a true cannon arm, now that he's in the NFL he'll learn that the way to improve is to get that ball out sooner. He was late on some of the deep balls he threw as well, nice distance, but the WRs had to slow up. I didn't really get much from the defensive practice other than the fact that I might have been too harsh about the Eric Smith selection. I still don't love the pick, but I was overlooking him completely as a SS option in the near future. He's quick to the ball, and seems to love contact (even in light pads and shorts). Also, I'm really starting to like the idea of Bryan Thomas at 34 OLB, he's got the perfect size for it (seems to have slimmed/defined a bit); I even saw him make a nice move on DBrick. I did also notice that he was practically a standing DE on a lot of plays, exactly like McGinest played in NE. And on an unrelated note, I spent some of the time looking around to see if I noticed anyone from the site. I had a feeling that the kid sitting down the row from me was a poster on a site, but didn't feel like asking. Also, the guy a few rows behind me was on the phone with someone talking about "the site" and bandwith issues, just thought that was funny. I was at about the 35 on the Defensive side by the way, 5 or so rows back.
Hey, it seemed like a good idea at the time. I'm just mad that I couldn't find my hello kitty shorts, would have been a perfect outfit.
