OK, so 4 years later, I'm curious: are Jets in general happy with Robertson's performance? Will be able to anchor the 3-4 for you guys?
I would'nt say happy, but D-rob just hasn't lived up to his potential or the hype I guess. I always though he was solid.
different regime, the previous years don't matter anymore, especially with him since he is essentially switching positions.
I this Doug Jolley sucks. If anyone thinks Jolley is good then theres a probablem. He was decent in Oakland but absolutely sucks in NY
Personally, I really like DRob. Mangini was aked about him in today's press conference and he mentioned that DRob was lacking from a technique standpoint, but has made progress throughout camp. He stressed that DRob has to get more consistent and such. Some may say this shows that DRob has been a bust, but to me it shows that Herm did not know how to develop anyone. No one progressed in terms of technique under Herm's watch, no one. I think DRob will have a nice year this year, but be dominant next year.
Exactly..as far as Im concerned..he, cotch, strait, miller, rhodes and any other young kid that was drafted during the herm era all get byes. In my eyes, they are all rookies again. Not one player overachieved during his tenure..and many underachieved. This new CS/FO put a lot more weight on conditioning and preperation...this is a brand new team to me. Not prejudging one player.
Jet fans think a lot of them suck. Herman Edwards, Kevin Mawae, John Abraham, Santana Moss, Ty Law for starters.
well....i just got back from camp and it doesent look so good for robertson...he had trouble joggin, laggin behind every1 it just looked like he was in alot of pain out there. i dont know if his knee is gonna hold up a much longer. i wish him well tho were gonna need him
sounds like the old bone on bone thing again... Hard to support 300+ pounds without cartiledge in the knees. I thought the Jets knew that when they drafted him. I could be wrong here. Help me out somebody...
There was some discussion about this today on the board..I just did a ton of searches concerning him coming out of college and injuries..and saw nothing there. Now, I cant say that the Jets didnt know about something..but his pre draft workouts were so good..thats what put him in the top 5..not his performance at Kentucky which was pretty good. Just not sure what the Jets knew before the draft.
I think Robertson has been an above average DT with the Jets. Considering the cost to get him (both picks and salary) I can understand why he is not very popular among Jets fans that expected him to be Warren Sapp. I know most don't consider him a fit in the 3-4, but considering Mangini's reputationon defense, I trust his judgement on Robertson's ability to fit in a 3-4 defense.
Wha? There is a "probablem" here, but I'm not sure it's Jolley. I this saw Jolley thers at pratcieses, and he's looked unprrobablematic to mees. Jay, yeah, they knew about his knees. I think he could be done even this year. That is why I was so upset with the Pouha injury.... we needed that kid this year. I think that there are few players on this roster that "suck". The problem is more a lack of play makers. We have a lot of good to average guys here. After Vilma, there isn't an established core player on the team, and that is in contrast to the contending teams that all have several play maker types on both sides of the ball. Barrett is a guy who is inconsistant, but does he "suck"? No. He's just OK, average. We have some young guys who might break the barrier, but they arent there just yet.
for the amount of money they are paying him and plan to pay him I don't see how they could be that happy
This sounds like great news to me. He should be cut next season..... two first round picks down the drain in this bum.
I just never heard an official "we knew that Robertson could be damaged goods before we drafted him" line from the Jets. But you are always on buddy....Im sure you are correct..thanks for that update.
