If not him then somebody else. A guy like Cumberland is pretty replaceable: he's fast with suspect hands and terrible blocking. You could find an UDFA with that skill set. FTR, I don't wanna trade Keller for anybody but if we can get a good young player back for him I'm all for it.
So you first say trade for Peyton- which we would have to give them multiple draft picks for a 36 year old who hasnt played in a year coming off of major neck surgery. That makes sense. Why do you think one QB could fix this team with the holes that it does? How would Peyton Manning function getting beat to the ground every play because of the shitty OL? I would think not up to his par. Trading 3 first rounders for Luck might not even make it happen, and even so, that is the future of the franchise... trading away that many high picks for an unproven rookie is just not smart, meanwhile we have a very capable starter who is only going to get better if Tanny makes an effort to build around him.
No Colts wont trade Manning because that means they must 1st pay him a 28 million dollar bonus, either they keep him or they release him so all wed pay for him is money. Who would you rather have starting for the New York Jets next year Manning or Sanchez please tell me? And if 3 first rounders don't get it done then give them what gets it done, a player like luck comes once in a lifetime.
Slausons has been money this year open your eyes That being said part ways with plax. Sign Michael griffin and braylon. Keep lt one more year. Sign Matt roth
I agree I am not a fan of Keller. He seems to show his best early in the season and than goes on a huge decline. He gives up on a lot of plays and is not good at blocking. Im not against him being on the team or anything but if he leaves or is traded Im not losing any sleep over it. We can do better at the TE position.
I agree that Slauson has been playing well for the money that we pay him and there are plenty of other players who need replacing before him!
Wayne Hunter no need to elaborate on not keeping him, however would wait to see what the prognosis is for Rob Turner Brandon Moore should be kept to keep the degree of turnover on the o-lne to a minimum Sanchez is not going anywhere until his rookie contract is up and he may well be kept as he can improve if other elements are addressed. Eric Smith in my opinion is a valuable guy but not as a starter so I wouldn't cut him Plaxico should be gone despite his redzone ability he hasn#t done enough to get a new contract I really like Jimmy Leonhard for his knowledge and smarts of the system but two serious injuries to the same leg in back to back seasons means his mobility has got to be suspect Bryan Thomas will be gone. WE all know the knock on him in terms of his draft status and our expectations but he significantly improved in run d and the d has missed him since he went down however he is too long in the tooth now LT has been a good servant for us and showed he had some left in the tank but it's time to say goodbye as this is a diminishing return by now
Almost all of the players listed can help the team from a depth standpoint Smith, Moore Hunter, Burress, & Thomas can all be upgraded If Hunter goes, keep Moore Leonard will go due to injuries, but a major upgrade and a new on field leader will be need Tomlinson may be back
We can't bring Burress back. He's not productive enough to outweigh the distractions he provides. His poor route running is even worse than Dustin Keller's and he rarely fights to protect his QB on poorly thrown balls. Thomas might come back on low salary, but we haven't really done worse since he went out, so far as I can tell. I don't see them bringing LT back, but who knows. If they decide to put a premium on character and leadership this offseason he might get one more year. Hasn't been an effective runner for the past 14 months or so.
I don't want Eric Smith cut in the off-season. I want him cut on the field on Sunday. Also lose LT, Plaxico and Turnstyle.
So when your Homie Mark Sanchez is finally gone from the Jets wether its tommorow or 20 years who will you root for? If Sanchez was Puerto Rican would he still be the greatest Qb since Joe Montana?
LT said he won't retire... I say let's get him back at vet min for next year. (Not a big McK fan though so context)
