Yeah, the guy is kind of a jerk, and his gruff style is a direct contrast to Rex's player friendly approach. On the surface, might seem like a poor fit for this team...but given the apparent lack of discipline in the locker room, I have to wonder if his prickly demeanor would serve as a valuable counterbalance to Rex's constant, positive affirmation. I'm sure he'd be a lot quicker to call Santonio on his shit than Schotty or Callahan.

    Thoughts?

A question not worth revisiting. But thanks.

or do you have a history of his great accomplishments beyond his one season with a hall of fame QB leading the team to a Super Bowl?

    Go!

He's credited with playing a significant role in Tony Romo's development as well.

True, the body of work isn't huge, but I've never heard/seen anything but positive stuff about the guy's work as a coordinator/assistant coach.

The biggest problem is he loves the passing game much more than the running game...

I think the Chiefs led the league in rushing in 2010.

Hard to disagree with that, but still. I think we can aim a little higher.

Has Haley always called the plays with the Chiefs? I believe he has..if so, he hasn't been too pass happy there - adjusting to his personnel if nothing else, being that they have a mediocre QB and only one pass catching threat.

Big game gaffes aside, he made an immediate impact when he took over for the Cowboys and he's become a top ten, NFL quarterback. I'd say that's development.

    I lol'd.

The Chief's did lead the NFL in rushing in 2010 with 164 yards a game. I guess perception =/= reality.

    Another thought on this.

With both Rex and Haley on the sideline there is bound to be an altercation sometime, be it between them or another teams coach / player. It would make the end of the game as fun to watch (and sometimes more so) than the game itself.

The Jet's offense has basically under-achieved, by design or execution, since 1998. They underachieved for about a decade before that also. I'd kind of like to see the Jets bring in somebody who has some experience in running a good to great offense at the NFL level.

You keep hiring schmucks and you get more of the same. What the Jets need is a really good offensive coordinator. More on the job training for somebody who wants to be a head coach is a bad idea.

The Jets should find somebody and make them an offer they can't refuse to just be the offensive coordinator. The Steelers defense is as good as it is at least partly because the same guy, a guy who failed as a head coach, has been running it forever and is really happy to keep doing that.

I recognize that the norm is for an OC to be headed up to the HC position but the Jets have ranged from mid-teens to high-twenties on offense since 1988 with a few exceptional years in the mix and none of them in a row. Enough is enough. Fix the team structurally so that we're not looking at a mediocre offense every year.

Note to Woody Johnson: high-scoring offenses sell tickets and PSL's really well.

Apparently, someone felt the question was worth revisting. :)
