His fumble in the AFC Championship Game. His non-factor status in every other playoff game where a truly great back would've taken over for a stuttering offense or ineffective QB and got the first downs that would've made a difference. He's a great guy, a great story, and deserves to be in the HOF. But there's a difference between longevity Hallers and great-moments Hallers. In the really big games, he was merely good and did not seize the moment and be the difference-maker.
Okay, ChampionJets69. 96 vs Pittsburgh (win)- 19 carries, 166 yards, 3 TDs 96 vs Jacksonville (win)- 19 carries, 59 yards, 1 TD 96 vs Green Bay (loss)- 11 carries, 42 yards, 1 TD 98 vs Jacksonville (win)- 36 carries, 124 yards, 2 TDs 98 vs Denver (loss)- 13 carries, 14 yards, 1 TD 01 vs Oakland (loss)- 16 carries, 106 yards, 0 TDs 02 vs Indianapolis (win)- 15 carries, 67 yards, 0 TDs 02 vs Oakland (loss)- 16 carries, 74 yards, 0 TDs 04 vs San Diego (win)- 18 carries, 64 yards, 0 TDs 04 vs Pittsburgh (loss)- 19 carries, 77 yards, 0 TDs 79.3 rushing yards per playoff game is not bad. It's not Terrell Davis- great. But 79.3 is far from bad.
One of the best to ever play the game. He's a model of consistent play and a class act. He derserves Canton and there is no doubt in my mind he will get there.
wheres the all of the above button? i cant vote in that poll cuz its not fair to ignore the other 3 choices.
I took biggest class act. Not because that is the only choice to pick, but probably the most fair to him. I wouldn't say all of the above, since I can't say for sure he is the best Jet ever. He is one of the best players to ever don the green, but as far as the best ever, I don't know. Playing through injuries was just hardcore. That's the kind of player he always has been. 4th all time leading rusher takes a back seat to another stat. He is tied for the most consecutive 1000 yard seasons to start a career. That's a huge stat, and has always been underrated. The consecutive seasons @ 1k is probably what I will remember most about him. The great thing is, it doesn't matter what you remember him for, it is all good.
champ has him at 54th all time on the Jets list. champ has him below such "greats" as CJ, JS, BT, JR, BJ, BT, RR, BP, and CG.
