after hearing LT's comments on the Jets and all the crap that took place this year. I think the fans (all of us) should ban the first game of the year including all preseason games and training camp. We sit on this site and other Jets sites saying how pissed. just a though
I want to make a change in the fans, I will boycott any game if we can rid ourselves of the pathetic fans that show no loyalty whatsoever. One 8-8 season after 2 title game trips and "fans" want drastic changes:rofl2: I wish all of you guys could be forced to watch the '87-'96 Jets.
I've been watching since the mid-70's. Wanting changes is certainly not a reaction to one 8-8 season. Not saying I want a major overhaul, but some changes are clearly warranted given the state of disarray the team seems to be in.
Ftr, I am a fan of the Jets, which to me is NOT Woody, or Tanny, or Ryan, or even all three of them. Being a good fan does not require waiving your pom poms no matter what crap is going on. I would argue the opposite unless you think being a good fan means to encourage ineptitude by supporting it.
with social media today it could,... google and wikipedia did it yesterday and that SOAP law didnt pass We pay good money to see what, a train wreck like this year
Nobody expected anything in '87-'96, nobody was promised anything in '87-'96 and certainly NOBODY was paying $700 per seat per game in '87-'96 after paying 20k for a PSL...fuck that attitude
There is no way you could organize enough fans to make a dent in Woody's pocketbook, and unfortunately that's the only thing that would ever get his attention. Boycott the first game and preseason games? Who cares, the tickets are already paid for. So are the PSLs. Don't watch the game on TV? Who cares, the networks have already paid for the television rights and the advertisers have already paid for the spots. And TV revenues are split among all NFL teams. Give up your non-PSL season tickets? Who cares, someone else is right behind you with their checkbook already open. Don't buy any Jets licensed merchandise? Not really a big financial hit to the team, unless you could make it a total boycott that lasts for a year a more. Bottom line is, there is nothing fans can do to force any kind of change that the owner doesn't want to make.
You are right of course but it would certain be embarrassing and in a city like NY with the media circus that would take over the town it might get something done...to a small degree that circus is happening now and even now some changes have been made(Schitty)..does anybody think for a second that would have happened if the media and fanbase hadn't gone ballistic on him?
you deserve the 70s & 90s. what is wanthing a change from? the 2 title games the 2 previous years? Changes are made every year regardless of how good or bad a team does, this team does need changed but not major changes. Clearly you don't remember those days. In '85 and '86 we made the playoffs, a lot was expected in 1987. In 1988 we finished a 1/2 game out of the playoffs, we had expectations. In '91 we made the playoffs, we had expectations in 1992. In 1993 we brought in Boomer, Lott and others- we had expectations- same w/ 1994. No one forced anyone to be foolish enouhg to pay $700/seat or for a PSL. Most of the people paying those prices aren't Jet fans anyway. We once had leon hess who rarely rasied ticket prices and din't even require us to pay for postseason until his last season but the team stunk more often than not. I'd rather have higher prices and a better team than low prices w/ no hope.
Maybe. If you guys want to organize something, I'll give you my support. However, I don't think major changes are warranted. If I owned the team, I'd probably tell Tanny to cut Holmes. And, I'd instruct him to stop treating this as a "win now" team (which, it cleatly isn't) and start building the team through the draft and possibly a few select young free agents with an eye on contending for and winning several championships in the 2014-2020 timeframe.
Thank you OP. I have been yelling "BOOOOOOOO!" whenever I see any member of the Jets organization on TV. That lets me release all of the frustration, disappointment, and embarrassment I feel over a truly tragic 8-8 season where we were the worst team in the NFL. I also plan to boycott my daily coffee run, but that is more for financial and digestive reasons.
I'd like to see GG Jet fans make a statement about not being reactionary nutbags by refraining from making threads/posts about "making statements" with extreme, unrealistic moves.
I deserve the '70s and '90s? WTF does that even mean? Losing title games doesn't mean much to me. There are only three things you can win in the NFL: Your division, your conference championship, the Superbowl. That's it. The Jets haven't won any of those things, and if you thought the Jets had the talent to win either the 2009 or 2010 AFC Championship games, you're delusional. Getting there and hoping to get lucky against a superior opponent is not a recipe for success. This team needs to get younger, faster, more athletic and more talented if they are going to win anything.
I remember cheap tickets in those days and you are right about nobody being forced to buy those expensive seats now but if they didn't then you would never see the Jets on TV again..that would be the tradeoff.
Its not like the team fought hard and went 8-8. They fell apart, and couldn't care less about it. This team hates one another. Its more then just an 8-8 season, come on.
dude, no one is telling you to spend that kind of money, they have this new invention called the television where you can watch for free if you can stomach some commercials. welcome to the 21st century dude.
I also pay a good chunk of $ for seats but no where near $700, guy must be nuts. But it sucks just to see the team go down this road right now.
